Crytek’s F2P shooter Warface may have a great name, but how does it play? And is it any fun? While we wait for the game to launch so we can find out the answers to these (and other) questions, you can check out this CGI trailer showing the two sides fighting it out as a mysterious third party plays around with a coin from high above the battlefield (it’s a metaphor, you see). Let us know what you think:

In the meantime, you can apply for the beta (if you haven’t already) at this address.

We have a new trailer for Warface here, featuring some co-op gameplay. The combat looks very smooth, and there are giant mechs in there which always scores extra points for me — but this game could be GOTY this year and every year till Armageddon, and I will never be able to take it seriously with a name like Warface. Unless it’s a military term I don’t understand? I don’t play a lot of military FPSs, so maybe y’all know something I don’t.

But really. Warface. Check it out below, and let us know what you think. And if I’m betraying my ignorance with that Warface comment, try not to be too mean to me!

Warface

Crytek have announced that their amusingly named Warface, which boasts over 2 million players in Russia already, will be seeing wider release. Crytek have said that not only Europe and the U.S., but Australia and New Zealand, will see the free-to-play shooter in the near future. Warface uses the CryEngine 3 and provides players with a PvE universe that contains co-op missions as well as class-based PvP action. “We are very impressed with Warface and Crytek’s commitment to polished gameplay, amazing graphics, technical excellence, and real innovation,” quipped Lars Buttler, CEO of Trion Worlds, who are working with Crytek as publishers.
