More PAX AU news comes to us this morning, with not only the official site going live, but ticket registrations opening up as well. Prices run at $45 for each individual day, or $115 for a three-day pass (a saving of $20). The site also includes a section on hotels and travel for attendees looking to stay in the area and take part in group discounts.

PAX AU also confirmed this morning that it will be held at the Melbourne showgrounds both in 2013 and 2014, securing its place in Australia for at least the next two years.

If you’re interested in chatting about PAX AU or maybe organising a couch to crash on, why not head over to this discussion thread started by Ashigaru and pitch in?

PAX AUS

A PAX event coming to Australia was always going to be somewhere on the east coast, but with Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne to choose from, at least two cities were going to walk away unhappy.

Those two cities are Brisbane and Sydney it seems, as Kotaku AU has got hold of a sales document which appears to confirm PAX Australia will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds from July 19 – 21 of next year. There you go! Start your engines.

Penny Arcade creators Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik (Tycho and Gabe) apparently told PAX Prime audiences that their gaming and generally geektastic convention is headed to Australia, presumably in 2013. A new antipodean PAX would join the core Seattle event and its Boston spin-off, PAX East. The pair reportedly said they’re looking into a UK offering too, but have nothing to announce.

The news comes courtesy of Joystiq, who are apparently glued to the event’s Twitch.TV livestream, so details are slim for now. Expect more concrete details once the PAX Prime dust settles in Seattle.

PAX has become one of the more important and fan-friendly convention events; it’s pretty quiet on the news front but it spews forth trailers and screens like some sort of media volcano, and is by all accounts a heck of a good chance to play a bunch of unreleased games.
