Duke Nukem 3D

If you’re one of the six billion people on earth who apparently weren’t too impressed with Duke Nukem Forever, it’s time to relive the glory days with a depressingly small 35MB download of Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition from GOG.com.

The giveaway marks the launch of their 2012 DRM-FREE HOLIDAY SALE, which is worthy of the all-caps and has 474 different titles on sale from now until January 3rd.

Top sellers on the front page include The Witcher 2 for a puny $12, RollerCoaster Tycoon for $3, Total Annihilation for $3, and just $11.92 for a bundle of Bullfrog Favourites including Populos 1-3, Dungeon Keeper 1-2, Syndicate, Theme Hospital, and Magic Carpet.

Plus, free Duke Nukem 3D. Can’t complain about that.

GOG.com

For those like me that enjoy a bit of the older school of gaming, GOG.com is pretty much your best source of nostalgic games that will run on your modern day computer-machines. But time keeps marching on, and these games are only getting older. How much longer can we expect them to work on the latest OS?

Well, while I can’t actually answer that question for you, I can tell you that, as of today, 90% of games on GOG.com officially support Windows 8 — so they’ll be good for a few more years yet. The GOG team are adding more Windows 8 games as time goes by, and continuing to add Windows 7 support to some as well.

So there you have it, the GOG team have you covered. Even if, like one inevitable commenter, you’re still using Windows XP, there are plenty of games for you to play.

Dungeon Keeper

Happy Monday, everybody! Let’s celebrate our return to work with a return to the good old days of classic EA gaming: GOG.com are having a mad sale on old EA titles.

Alpha Centauri, Dungeon Keeper, Theme Hospital, Wing Commander 1-4 (and Privateer), Ultima 1-9, Crusader, Starflight, Populous and many more are now on sale for the next twenty-four hours, with prices capping out at the astronomically high $2.39. Alternatively, you can buy all 26 games for $62.14. Savings!

What will you be picking up?

GOG.com has announced that its amazing Interplay bundle has moved over 100,000 copies of beloved Interplay classics – in less than 24 hours. Although you’d think GOG.com’s target audience would already own every single game from the much-loved classic PC gaming publisher, the bundle is too good a deal to pass up. For as little as one cent you’ll score eight games – Conquest of the New World, Jagged Alliance 2: Unfinished Business, M.A.X. and M.A.X. 2 – but if you cough up $35, you’ll receive the publisher’s entire catalogue, including giftable versions of any duplicates, at a saving of 82 percent. There’s also a mid-tier which will earn you 20 games for paying over the average.

The deal is only available for 12 more days so scurry on over and take a peek. Fallout is waiting for you.

Geralt Loves his iPod

Mac owners, rejoice: you can now continue to play a small selection of games! Okay, that was mean, I’m sorry. But that selection of games has grown today, with the addition of not only GOG.com’s premiere Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, but also games like Ultima, Syndicate, Wing Commander, Sim City, Crusader, Little Big Adventure, Theme Hospital and Anomaly: Warzone Earth.

This new section on GOG.com helpfully catalogues all the available Mac OS X games for you, with more promised in the future. In the meantime, GOG are celebrating their new cross-platformity with a 25% off sale on The Witcher 2, making it just $30 for a DRM-free copy that works on both PC and Mac, forever. Good times! There’s a bunch more sales on as well including Theme Hospital for only $2.99, so be sure to check out the catalogue linked above.

Planescape

If this morning’s news about old-school RPG’s has got you excited to get back into a bit of old-school RPG action, then you’re in luck: Good Old Games are having a sale on… well, on old-school RPG’s.

The ‘Diamonds of D&D’ collection includes Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate 2, Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition, Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale 2, The Temple of Elemental Evil, D&D: Dragonshard, The Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone and Planescape Torment, all for a hilariously cheap $30.00.

Due to the bizarre and incomprehensible way discount mathematics works, it’s actually cheaper to buy The Temple of Elemental Evil as a part of the package, even if you don’t want it. Just something to bear in mind.
