Hello, friends.

It is with a heavy heart today that I must inform you that the website and community will be shut down soon. You can find more information in this post here. and its free Steam content is the reason I first took out an Internode ADSL subscription, all the way back in 2008. I had no idea at the time that I would end up in charge of the site, or that I’d meet so many amazing people along the way.

(In fact, when an email first arrived from a stranger who told me they were my mum’s cousin, asking me if I could help out her a “friend who was looking for game reviewers”, I thought mum had passed my email address to spammers. Again.)

This job has taken me across the country. This job has made me dozens and dozens of new friends, and hundreds more community mates, whose well-aimed bullets have killed me far too many times on far too many servers to possibly mention. This job has allowed me to interview CEOs about whether their laptops will make me sterile, to trick developers into playing D&D, and to post absolute garbage every April Fool’s day (and sometimes on other days, too).

This is a good job. I am going to miss it. I am going to miss you all.

I can’t. So here we are.

This guest post contributed by our Chief Regulatory Officer at iiNet, Steve Dalby.

Another news cycle, and yet again we see the recycled claims suggesting Australia is the worst nation in the world for Internet piracy. This may not actually be the case, but there can be no debate that work still remains to be done to effectively combat piracy.

The Australian Government is readying legislation, if news reports are to be believed, which would require ISPs such as iiNet to send infringement notices to our customers while, at the same time, blocking certain websites which provide access for customers to download and share unauthorised content.

We believe the Government is heading down the wrong path if they’re serious about protecting copyright.
