Tissue alert – Deus Ex: Human Defiance is just the name of the movie

Deus Ex: Human Defiance is not an upcoming video game, games industry super-detective Superannuation has determined.

Following an outburst of excited interest in a Square Enix trademark for the title, the ever-curious snoop turned up a domain registration for the same title by CBS Films, the company behind the upcoming movie from the director of Sinister.

At this point, there’s a possibility of a tie-in of some kind but it’s far more likely simply a defensive move ahead of the movie title’s reveal. When you finish sobbing hopelessly over the lack of a follow-up to Human Revolution, just remember that Eidos Montreal is not-so-secretly working on Thief 4, which is a pretty good substitute.
