Nobody has apparently told CD Projekt RED that 20 hours of gameplay is a “normal” length AAA game these days, because that’s the length of the “smaller” titles they’re reportedly working on in order to support their bigger releases.

The company has provided Kotaku US with a translation of a corporate report posted to their site last week, in which their plans for these smaller games are revealed, as well as improved modding support, a cross-platform mobile game and licensing of their engine.

The full list of plans for the company are…

Cyberpunk 2077

A polish journo named Piotr Gnyp, a man renowned for his hatred of vowels, recently did an interview with CD Projekt Red about their plans for the future. The full interview is not up yet, but forum members over at the Witcher forums have collated the information from Gnyp’s twitter account into a delightfully readable summary. Here are the highlights:

The unannounced dark fantasy game we’ve heard so little about – “the Witcher 3?” – is apparently in more advanced stages than Cyberpunk 2077, which has at least been announced. Cyberpunk 2077 is to be part of a series, though, and both parts will be larger than previous installations of The Witcher and both will be multiplatform.

Seemingly at odds with the previous statements, CD Projekt Red are planning to have a quiet 2013, with no Witcher-calibre releases. This leaves us to deduce that both Unnamed Dark Fantasy Title and Cyberpunk 2077 will be 2014 releases.

CD Projekt Red are also toying with the idea of The Witcher on the iPhone. It is, apparently, too early to say but not impossible. There will be no Witcher for PS3 in 2013 though, CD Projekt Red would like to see the series on the Playstation, but not this generation. Both The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on next generation consoles, lending credence to the idea that they will not see release until 2014.

What do you think of CD Projekt Red’s plans for the future? Do they get you excited, or frustrated that time is going too slowly? Let us know what you think.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings developer CD Projekt RED has announced a set of mod tools for the popular action RPG. Called REDkit, the much-requested suite will enable players to create content ranging from suitably non-linear quests all the way up to whole new environments. CD Projekt RED’s proprietary engine is a fancy piece of work indeed, so it’ll be exciting to see what our homebrew brethren can concoct with it. Unfortunately there’s no release date attached to the toolkit; it will be shown to press behind closed doors during gamescom, which runs August 15 through 19 in Cologne, Germany.

CDProjekt Red’s job listing announcing that they were on the hunt for an “experienced multiplayer programmer” had many people raising eyebrows, but CDP have come out today to quash any fears. “I don’t want to comment on what this guy will create, it’s way too early,” said the studio’s head of marketing, Michal Platkow-Gilewski.

“We want to bring to the team someone experienced in this field to evaluate our concepts and ideas. He will be one of backbone elements of our R&D. We believe that there’s still a lot of space for innovation in the RPG genre. At this stage of our games’ development, we want to explore all possible directions, check what would be cool, what’s feasible and – always the most important for us – what suits our games the best.”
