The headset opens itself up to being an awesome training tool also it's so portable you could use it in the field to test say driver training etc: the applications are endless.

Valve announced today that Team Fortress 2 will have a new "VR Mode" that supports the Oculus Rift, available this week!

The icing on the cake? To commemorate this momentous occasion, Valve created an exclusive new TF2 hat: the Oculus Rift development kit.

Valve has generously donated these fashionable Rift hats to the Oculus developer community. Interestingly though the article that accompanies that video basically says TF2 doesn't really work for it/is quite underwhelming.

From Nate Mitchell on Oculus forums:

We're still in the process of setting up our international fulfillment network. We expect to start shipping our first large batch of units to European backers toward the end of next week. Asia should follow a week or two after that.

To be honest, our logistics process is still in its infancy -- we're sorting out the details and optimizing as we go. For example, this week we're working on setting up a fulfillment center in Europe that should cut another week off future European delivery estimates.

This is what happens when you have a team of engineers leading your distribution efforts.

We promise we'll get faster as we go! Thanks again for your support and patience.

I was order # 2356. Ordered day one. My account page changed from 'Ready' to 'Processing' sometime before wednesday last week. Also the delivery address and contact info was greyed out too so it couldn't be changed. Surely yours is on the way and not far if your account says processing assuming they did the AU/NZ backers in a batch.
