17/01/2013 Urgent patch:

News and articles
  • http://games.on.net/feed/ - Rss feeds working again. This stopped our twitter/facebook/syndication to partners and members from working. This was the real showstopper that caused us to push a release out today. The rest, just good timing as they had been completed since Tuesday :)
  • Subscribe to comments plugin configured and enabled
  • Usernames are now displayed correctly in comments
  • Time and date in comments on the right is now a permalink, is handy to share and link directly to specific comments.

Misc
  • Login and search box, focus visibility increased
  • Corrected a number of issues in a phpbb core file

Mobile
  • WPtouch Pro 2.8 updated to WPtouch Pro 2.8.1
  • A few misc settings updated for WPtouch, comments are now expanded by default
  • I've rebuilt the mobile template from scratch this morning, based on a child theme structure. Future updates to WPtouch are unlikely to break or impact the mobile site now.

That's what I was afraid of  (no probs though, was just curious)

EDIT - Login box is much better. Doesn't remove username or show cursor like your example pic the other day, but the green highlight is enough to let me know that it has recognised my click :)

Also fixed: the way the comments actually handled permalinks -- they're properly generated now so that when you quote somebody or reply to them, clicking on their name will jump you to the original text.

Seems your doing a lot of addon work here's an old one for you too solve. ;)

During your maintenance can we please have back if possible when you open a large picture you are able to just close it again instead of having to hit back on your browser which reloads the whole page, as quick as it is it's a pain in the **** reloading the whole page again.

The same with large pictures, they don't work in hidden tags unless you manually add the tags.

Honestly this is pretty normal at our normal rate. Most of the time our releases to fix minor issues have no downtime and hardly anyone notices. So i'm making an effort to lay out what is actually happening in a change log of sorts. Is good so far :). Tim and I constantly work on the site in a range of ways to improve both our and your life when hanging out here.

Ginji has made a slight alternation to his image resize script. Large images will now open in a new tab/window instead of your current one when clicking View full sized image. This will stop you from having to reload the whole page :).

This change will go out in the next deployment, might be a few days/weeks. Depends on what we have going on.

Awesome news thanks, it's one thing that bugs me to hell, as sometimes I just close the picture,  and have to reopen the forums.

Good the work is being displayed to show things are moving in the right direction, if you didn't it would seem as things had become stagnant.

p.s I fixed your quote. :P :P

Not at all :). It was related to error with the profile page you raised earlier. We do not support push notifications at this time as it requires AUTOMOD for phpbb to be installed.

It's unlikely that we will ever install this as it can make changes to files that are (somewhat) entirely unaccounted for at the mods own discretion. We use the Legacy Installation method for Tapatalk on our forum, the downside is no push notification.

Saying that, I've got no problems at all using Tapatalk on my phone with notifications on android. I certainly DO get notifications with this enabled.

Understandable. However, Tapatalk HD for Android tablets uses push notifications to deliver notifications to users instead of the pull notifications method used in Tapatalk 2 on Android and Tapatalk on iOS. That's why notifications work on the phone app and not the tablet app.

EDIT: More info on notifications support in Tapatalk HD on Android

Search for "Tapatalk HD" in Google Play to find and purchase it.

Bicketybam wrote:What version of Firefox are you using? On my old system, currently my server, it has Firefox 5.0 and it does this a lot, even though it is set to automatically log me back in each time and to remember the settings, but every 2nd or 3rd visit (it's not a set constant thing) it would log me out and i would have to log back in again.

When I had to do that manually it was an absolute pain in the arse, but I use another program to manage passwords now (Last Pass) and it automatically logs me back in when needed, so while still a pain not as much now.

But on my current system, I have installed the latest Firefox (18) and I have not had this issue happen yet on this machine. So it could be a problem with the version of Firefox and updating may fix the issue (although I'm not completely happy with the new versions of Firefox as it has it's own problems I have found).

Had this bug on ff17 and 18. I'm also using lastpass so it's easy to log in, although it's impossible to actually log in to comment on articles.. here's what happens:

GON main page (logged out)
log in
redirected back to main page (logged in)
open article (logged out).

Logging in when an article is open still redirects you to the main page (not the article) so no difference there.

Going from the main page (logged in) to community also logs me out as well. However I can go between threads fine. I might play around with it see if I can figure out anything else that might be affecting it, for memory I tried safe mode and no luck there, so it wasn't any of my extensions being the worst.

I found something else bugged on the mobile site (may also be related to WP8 as I'm not sure if it's the same on other platforms)

Touching the "Skip to responses" link does nothing.

Device: Nokia Lumia 920
OS: Windows Phone 8

EDIT: Also, I'm not getting any email notifications of new comments on my Community Soapbox article even though it says at the bottom that I'm subscribed.

Speaking of that (but unrelated to how you meant it), The bookmark option is still blended into the forums unless you hover over the area (as per pic)
