Briggs is having issues today, was just playing and drop pods + vehicles weren't disappearing after death, nor was repairing working properly. Hopefully they get it fixed in time for tonight's gaming.

oh man, NC are a terrible group :/

We cap things all day, and night. Come peak hour, everything gets taken by terran and we get camped in our base :/

People just generally don't seem to have any tactical awareness, i actually saw two groups shooting at each other from opposite sides of the same hill last night, 20+ people a side, less than 5m apart and not ONE person tried to assault the other team.... not ONE person thew a grenade.

I threw a grenade and charged (alone)and got 8 kills before they got me, hill captured. People be stupid.

Same goes for dome assaults, the amount of times i see both teams jammed into one entrance while the other is totally deserted just blows my mind. I think it would be scary what an organized platoon or two could do in this game.

I saw that last night too, we had only one side of the dome's lift gates down, so people were getting up there, and then just sitting outside the dome firing in. We went around to the other side at first, but got pushed back repeatedly and never managed to establish a stable base of fire like the first entrance to the dome. We ended up taking so long there that our supply line got cut and so capturing the damn thing would have been a bit fruitless even if we'd gotten in there.

Hasn't NC conquered 2/3 continents? TR seems to always be last in server pop when I'm playing.

Don't give up on it that easy! I didn't seem to have that problem when I was playing on Saturday afternoon. Was quite funny, at one point we had a tank armada heading towards one of the facilities - so the sense of team is there, it just sorta happens rather than being properly organised, although they say the missions update should fix this... whenever that is released. It should force a bit of team work to occur.

As for lambs to the slaughter - there's a lot of that, particularly when the major battles at the Bio facility happen, you can barely stay alive long enough - however I enjoy it and I love when Battles for the Bio occur.

Sure the game might have some kinks for now - but the planetside team seem to be on top of things whenever they release a patch.

The lag was mainly due to the server provider having serious issues, which the dev team had to scramble to fix (and trying to troubleshoot australian servers on american time is pretty difficult and tiring, they also had EU and US servers to fix with separate issues).

They got most of it fixed, still a few bugs and crashes but they're getting ironed out.

As for the 'meatgrinder' feel. Well yes and no. Sometimes you just have to brute force your way through a door, you will die alot in this game, bases have been moved more and more to actually defensible locations, rather than during early beta where they were utterly impossible to defend bar a few isolated cases.

Obviously running around by yourself trying to take a base defended by 50+ people isn't going to end in victory.

If you want teamwork, you'll need an outfit. Playing planetside requires teamwork, one guy doesn't wield enough power to shift an entire battle, no matter how good of a shot he is. Get a mic if you don't have one, cycle between public squads until you find some others that are talking, or go poking around the forums for an outfit (depending on your faction you may be out of luck in that regards, I haven't seen an NC outfit yet, TR have several good ones and VS has a few as well).

Seems like a game you have to give some time to before you can enjoy it. So far I'm one of the many who has only played for a little while but been really put-off. Planning to give it another shot though, if the client stops bugging out on me.

Not really, alot of the whinging over cert prices, extra weapons and the like is just the BF3/COD mentality kicking in, where people expect a ribbon, a shiny and a new better gun every 10minutes or so.

Believe me you can still kick all kinds of **** with default weapons, infact the default weapons are typically one of the strongest for that class and faction (semi-auto snipers not so much). The other weapons really are just sidegrades, you're not missing out on much playing stock. And each class has it's main functionality straight out of the bag, infils can hack and cloak, medics can heal and engis can fix.

The game has been out barely a week (less considering server downtime) and everyone expects to have a fully upgraded tank, esf AND a billion guns in each class, without dropping any cash on the game. You've all been spoiled by bad games with terrible progression mechanics I'm afraid, welcome to how it's supposed to be done, specialise and you'll master your craft quickly, try do everything and you'll be stuck with lots of basic equipment.

The only thing time will really give you is map knowledge and a better idea of how to find a fight.

It's funny that, because I remember people **** about how they got bored with BC2/BF3/CoD after maxing out their levels. Certainly I find Planetside 2's progression infinitely preferable to the Call of Duty system of cosmetic prestiges.

Excellent post pudge. I agree with pretty much everything. People forget this game is free. You don't have to pay a single thing to get basically full functionality which is amazing considering how deep this game is.

Its surprised how quickly the mentality has changed. In BF2, it took until Master Sargent to get all the unlocks, which was a lot of hours to get to.
