Black Mesa (Fan Remake of HL1) OUT NOW

Anyone know why this stops downloading after a while? I have tried downloading the main file about 8 times, at different times of the day and the most I get downloaded is 11%. It resets each time and will not resume from the previous download. Is it timing out or something, only have ADSL1 (8mb)?

I could only guess it is either something to do with your browser, or your connection dropping out(?) as it so far has received 75,000+ downloads and that is the first post related to the file stopping part way.

Have you tried various browsers? (please tell me you are not using IE :P )

I have downloaded the Internode 1000meg test file and other large files without a problem. Seems like this file is a little different in some way?

Different because it is larger (ie 3gig), and if you are using an old IE (6 or 7) then from memory it will not download files larger than 2 gig.

Win7 64bit with IE9, all updated. IE9 not compatible? Each time I tried to resume/unpause, it said file was no longer available.

IE9 should be fine for files that size, well as good as IE gets anyway. Could you humor me and install Chrome and try that?

I thought Chrome would download it, but it failed as well:

Got a friend coming over later, will get him to bring his computer and give it a go. Got a feeling there may be something wrong with my computer that is not normally showing up, maybe a motherboard network driver problem.

Well since you ruled the browser out, I can now only guess at the PC or Broadband Connection as it seems to be working from here with no drama at all:

Edit: Now up to 488Mb, but will keep it going to see if it stops like yours.

No worries at all Submariner, If there was/is an issue with that file especially, I would like to let them know asap due to its popularity atm.

So trying to assist you / confirming for myself if the file is fine only works towards a common goal :)

(FYI, up to 2.6GB (of 3.1) so far with no issues)

Strange, I'm having trouble getting the download to start. Tried FF and IE9 (x64 & x86).

IE9 is showing "The webpage cannot be found" and FF takes me back to the filelist ...

EDIT: working now :-)

Logging into your forum account usually fixes that problem, and must be done in order to download any file from games.on.net.

Out of interest was that the cause?

In that case it was a PEBKAC error  I saw games.on.net as an official mirror and assumed I wouldn't have to log in. Then I logged in to post and it worked ...

All good, it is actually not mentioned anywhere official (yet), but it is on the list of things to be added to the site to clear up the confusion for some people that don't know.

Thanks again and I can now confirm I have a flakey computer :(

Friend and I have similar computers and he downloaded the file from my wired connected router (ADSL1 8mb) at 780kb/s to 800kb/s, while my computer is struggling to get to 650kb/s. Found latest firmware update for my motherboard and slight improvement. Instead of 11% of file, got 25% of the file, which was an improvement, and does seem to point towards a motherboard issue, as I did not change any software. Might explain some random download speeds I am getting from Steam. Could be time to replace the motherboard.
