Show Us Your Latest Purchase - September 2012

Went to the markets today to see the guy that sells old tools and odds and ends, friendly bloke, and I was hoping he'd have some old files there but no such luck. He did have an old saw blade, but it was more than I was willing to pay.

I did however come across two items I'm very happy with, a new hatchet $12 and a tool that I'm going to use for gardening, but it reminded me a lot of the old tool my grandfather used to set his rabbit traps with.. and it was only $15. Might also be useful when camping too.

*I wish I could make out the maker on this, it's a decent age and should be good steel compared to the new **** they make, and I really love the patina on older tools/knives

*Always wanted one of these, and for $2 how could I resist?

Image
*I asked it if buying it was a waste of money xD

It's taken me about 15 years to get this in order but I'm happy to have it sorted now :)

Seems my games drive is having issues, so replacing the 1TB WD black drive with a 1TB Veloociraptor. Would love 2 SSD's in a raid but this is a much cheaper option. Now just have to sync all the data from one drive to the other...

Getting noisy lately and some random freezes that have occurred at the same time as the hdd noises. Some games lately seem to have issues they've never had before. Might be the drive, might not be either, but I would rather swap it out now before it goes belly up and I have to try and recover files. Hopefully this fixes the issues, if not then it is something else, but it's also something I can rule out.

Either way its good to have a much faster drive for my games then the last one. ;)

It's a adze, a tool used for shaping timber. Suppose if you making a dug out canoe it might come in handy on a camping trip. It'd be a shame to see it used for gardening or chasing bunnies down a warren..

Hah well there you go, however - I'll be using mine for gardening and setting rabbit traps.. I don't think I'll ever have much need for making my own canoe :P The bloke that makes them makes them specifically for gardening, but told me it was originally a landscaping tool similar to a hoe, but I don't know whether thats true or not :)
