There's apparently and issue with people getting password reset confirmation emails for Guild Wars 2. Obviously, don't click the link. However, there have been reports of passwords getting reset without having ever clicked on the link...or the email for that matter.
The emails appear to be legitimate. I've gotten 8 of them so far....the problem? I don't have a Guild Wars 2 account. I do, however, have a few different Guild Wars 1 accounts. One of those accounts had been stolen at one point, and recovered. It was the only one of my accounts that was attached to an NCSoft Master account...It had been given access via some weird glitch that NCSoft had on their website about the time that AION was released, and many others suffered the same fate.
That is all in the past, but that account is now attached to the email account that I'm currently getting the password reset messages on. The ONLY way that the email could've been exposed is through direct hacking on the NCSoft website, or through the Hall of Monuments calculator on the Guild Wars 2 website.
I've been in contact with support about the issue, and haven't gotten a clear response as of yet. If you get these emails, I suggest you do the same so that the developers are forced to actually do something about the issue, instead of pretending that it doesn't exist.
