Nether and Overworld = 1 to 1 ratio?? wtf?

Unread postby HummerDude » 15 Aug 12, 8:07 pm

Just noticed that Nether coordinates are matching overworld at a 1 to 1 ratio instead of the normal Minecraft Nether of 8 to 1

Is there a reason for this? Nether has always be very useful for getting around quicker and with a 1to1 ratio - it makes it pointless!

Can this be fixed at all?

Cheers,
Hummer.

What server are you talking about GON or 3FL?

In all honesty I'd rather have it that way because too many players decide to exploit flaws in certain codes and get to the roof of the nether and run around

Just TP from place to place, much easier.

spynoob, they're exploiting the ignorance in code. If you expect Mojang to test things, you're going to have a bad time...
He is talking about the GON server, t'was brought up earlier when he was in the server.

It might be due to the nether / portal bugs which are going to be fixed in 1.3.2. Although with mcmmo giving glowstone, and nether warts being able to be grown in the overworld, there really is no use for the nether in the server anyway. Those are the main things people go to the nether for.

Actually we use it for acquiring blaze rods and ghast tears as well as nether bricks. It is also a good source of lava.

By having the nether as a 1:1 ratio it cuts out a lot of the lag caused by people moving through it and mass generating new land, which was a major problem the 3fl server had. (Yes even when they were legitimately travelling through it still caused tons of lag.

Since GoN isn't a pvp server there really isn't a need to move excessively far away from spawn apart from finding empty places to build and there is still tons of space around spawn.

Lots of us prefer the advantages of it being 1:1 and yeah just being able to tp from place to place is really useful, try joining a community and ptp-ing from place to place you'll never have to worry bout fast travel again lol.
