I'm not a "regular" regular, but I do still play. Good luck with getting "the whole GON Arma community" to move base. Warts or not, 'nodes gonna be my home forever, even if they never patched another Arma2 server from here on to Arma3 and beyond. (But I think I hear you, you just want some more attention to the node servers :))

The server costs me nothing (in addition to internet subscription costs) to play on and it's simply good enough for my casual experience.

Warfare game play is not my ideal style but I'll take a GON server over others pretty much everytime. I used to keep up with ACE2 updates and go to other servers - but probably won't again until Arma3 and assumeably ACE3... if ACE ever struck big on GON, that's where I'd be.

I enjoyed most the social/gaming mix style of Arma1 EVO and DOM missions mainly cause we played COOP. We'd rape towns, pound pavement, ambush vehicles, side missions, take on a town from a rooftop with everything from laser desig's to m16s and work land sea air logistically as a team. The amount of communication, and a determined and pre-meditated pace that tends to occur when working as a team.

As opposed to the often erratic and frequently uncoordinated efforts a die/respawn @ ambo/die again fest and rush to get a chopper/tank and screw the rest attitude seems to get in warfare. It is still fun, just slightly less than my nostalgia remembers.

Unfortunately, coop never seems to take off in big numbers here (at least when I do show up). Last time for me really was ~Arma1 time - but man were those nights and weekends fun.

I can't agree with you more but it seems like most of the regulars on GoN don't like coop and ACE for some reason and I'm quite bored of playing warfare against stacked teams with retards to be honest.

Personally, I'm more a fan of coop rather than competition-type missions(except fun missions like CROOKS or Life) as I don't have to deal with **** like stacking that you knew its going to be unfair before the game was even started.

-Skip this if u don't want to read about ACE & coop.

Probably a bit off-topic but back in the days of ACE1, I coincidently joined a 30+ players coop mission on a US server which was considerably large to me, and I was really excited about that to begin so I took like 65 photos(yes I just went through all of them again!). I used to be a EVO/Domi guy so little did I know there was a coordination going on, but luckily the mission started not long ago and I was still able to attend the briefing. I stayed with the squad and did what I was supposed to do. I was even invited to take lead of the squad before my SL left which wasn't bad for my very first deployment.
Long story short, I joined their missions throughout ACE1 to OA and ACE2 every now and then, got to know a couple of nice players too. That type of coordination where you spend more time to plan, to be briefed and to walk than you to survive and wait really changed my aspect of playing Arma. Thanks for reading this if you got to this far, but hey, those are my best moments of ArmA. I do wish to share more of my experiences in exchange of you peoples stories but neither is there a place to share or the opportunity to experience something like that again.

> Back to the topic...
GoN server is ok for what it is at the moment, you do get a stable number of players over time but the quality is getting worse each day... though I still find GoN is a better place to play on from the way how the regulars keep it but we're likely not getting much more than this with the current situation of the server.
Also, you wouldn't be able to run missions other than warfare without getting told off by stubborn people who just want to play Warfare.

Yes moving the community to the other server is going to be very very difficult, if you ask me would I join the other one I'd say only if it has something new or special like mods and only if I'm playing the same group of regulars... Just the other day, I heard some discussions of wanting more new stuff to play on Warfare. Realistically, I'm a bit bored of the vanilla warfare and I wouldn't mind to play something different like warfare + new islands + ACE2 or equivalent on the other server every weekends if we could organise something to start habit and obtain interests.

My 2 cents.

trumped with a stacked deck. Attrition warfare. I can understand balancing teams prior to a match, but the suggestions of forcing balanced teams during a match makes contesting for supremacy a very bland race indeed.

I highly dislike 9 hour attrition games where a team only wins because the other team have all left out of boredom. It's not fun when I'm on the winning team, it's a stale taste of victory; and it's certainly even less fun on the losing team.

I love when one team loses their HQ just before Air (ie they have Heavy 2 at least) and then you get some great battles. If the HQless team has at least 50% regs on it they can usually motivate the other 50% to keep fighting. And when they get their HQ back they have plenty of saved up dosh ready to buy Air and potentially smash back the other team.

BLUFOR get AS50 (standard scope) at Gear2
BLUFOR get LRR at Gear2
OPFOR get KSVK at Gear3

Both of those blufor rifles are better than the KSVK.... :!:

I don't really care though, who the hell uses the KSVK anyway?

Warfare either needs to die a horrible horrible death or be revamped/changed to the point that its not really warfare anymore.

I agree with Imperator. Warfare has outrun it's usefulness because it's the same damn thing over and over again.

We can only hope. We might even get back to you know... doing missions... using helicopters also to get to AOs without teleporting everywhere.

Problem is new maps are essentially = mandatory mod, which GON doesn't seem to like.

I'd play it on the other server if something is going to be organised...
