Cheers for that goosesmurf. I don't mind the banner at top but am happier that it is not so huge now.

I updated the script to add that. Sorry, Firefox must be more strict than Chrome.
Fixed the dark background to work on all pages.
Just click the update style button in Stylish and you'll be good. :)

Sorry goosesmurf for jacking your thread mate.

Why don't the GON web admins just:
1) Make a darker forum theme for PHPBB.
2) Allow users to select which theme they want to use.
3) With a module, allow the Wordpress theme to be chosen and also make a darker one.
????????????????????????????????

Gaming sites deserve to be dark!

Extension has been updated to v1.3 to remove the skin_left and skin_right elements, and force the body to 960px so it looks sane in a 1024px wide browser window.

Chrome users - Tools -> Extensions -> Update extensions now

Firefox users - GM is supposed to auto-update but I'm not sure how to force it, clicky

Rationale: A couple of weeks back it seems some space was added or modified to allow for skinning (I'm guessing for some special form of advertising). This created huge whitespace on either side of the main content panel for me in Chrome and Firefox. I left it for a couple of weeks hoping that it was just a bug that would be fixed, apparently not.

If this makes it look ugly for people with wider browsers let me know and I can try and fiddle it. I'm mostly working on the basis of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and trying not to modify the page too much as the more changes I make the more maintenance it will require over time.

Yes the script auto updates it's self in greasemonkey fyi.

With that latest update in the script the forum now fits and displays correctly on my 19" admin monitor computer.

That doesn't take away the ads down the side does it, as I liked to see those.

Ah thanks, good to know about auto-updates :)

I think it would kill the side ads. There were two containers "skin_left" and "skin_right" that sat on either side of the main content bit and I removed both of those as they're each allocated 140 pixels. I tried to shrink the forum body to ~680 pixels but then you get problems with some of the wide avatars overlapping the post content :(

The fundamental problem is that the forum body is designed to take about 950 pixels and GON then glued 140 pixels of ads to either side. It just can't fit within 1024 pixels :(

What might be possible is to say if there's an ad actually running maybe some indication could be provided so you could full screen your browser and see the ad/skin?

I can give that a shot if there's demand but my main goal is just to make the forum usable. I should say I'm not against advertising in general, I specifically *don't* run AdBlock. But if there's a trade-off between basic usability and advertising I'll always favour the former. It'd be great if GON supported 1024 width better -- maybe they could implement the above idea?

My god. Just added this. You fixed the stupid scrollbars when using smaller widths.

I love you so much right now.
