I'm still a bit unsure about the whole DRS thing. Yes, there was alot of overtaking which is what people want I guess......but it seems a bit artificial to me.

While I'm here, here's an interesting gif.

I don't like it the way it is at the moment, Indy series has it better. Last I knew they had a limit of how much to use it per race (I think it was 14) but the defender can use it as well. The second point is the one that is great, the defender in F1 cannot do anything with DRS blowing past him. In the end I prefer not to have any DRS, while there is a lot of overtaking now it does feel artificial.

By the way that gif is fantastmic.

well I said this elsewhere, but how about you're only allowed to use DRS if you're MORE than a second away from the car in front. That way we don't get any more cheap DRS overtakes, but cars can still get close enough to put a proper move on.

My vote would be single elements front and rear wings, no body aero elements (they are slowly creeping back onto the cars) and allow them to redevelop the underside of the car for aero (ground effects). This then helps do away with the dirty air problems that cause the problems for the following car. Which does away with the need for DRS.

The "push to pass" style kers system doesn't worry me given that both the attacking and defending have equal chance to use it.

That's the other thing I was thinking of, ground effects. This would help a lot, like you said it gets rid of all the dirty air & would eliminate the attacking car from struggling to get close all the time. So frustrating to watch too, seeing someone catch up & sit behind lap after lap.

Yup that's it. Every bit of air being disrupted by aero elements on the top of the car (wings and body etc) are creating the turbulent dirty air that doesn't then flow correctly over the following car. So instead of generating down force above the car to "push" it down, a higher developed underbody with ground effect style down force, would "pull" the car down, effectively sucking it to the road and creating far less of the dirty air problems.

Yeah it was banned for its own reasons too, but surely somewhere in between that and the current aero methods there must be a less disruptive method.

Awesome pics in that link, great to see the number "1" on one of Mikas old cars there!

Bad luck to Hami, I really feel for that stupid little chav.

Damn shame about Kobayashi, worst qualifying in a long while, can't wait to see his first race win (it's coming!).

And how many times did the helicopter camera do the flyover of the ship on the hotels? Damn pretty track though and some good racing.

A feature I didn't even know was in F1 2012 (as it wasn't available during the review period) is a worldwide challenge available for each race on the calendar... so when I logged in the challenge was to hotlap the Marina Circuit and upload times to a global leaderboard... I used to do a bunch of laps before each GP in-game just to get myself excited for the race so this is a clever addition.

I appreciate the art of driving a car at that speed on a track that torturous so I'd be quite happy to just watch someone win from pole. I don't see a problem with the lack of overtaking that you've stated before... plenty of thrills for me in that race even with just Hami breaking down, or someone mistiming the start and so on and so on.

I'm easily pleased :)

Hamilton to Mercedes. Deal said to be worth up to $100,000,000 over 3 years.

Yes it was on this arvo and again tomorrow, and it was interesting quali as well. I assume you know the results and if not sorry for spoil.

Webber on pole. He put in a good last lap. Now he will probably have a bad start as per usual or Grojean will crash into him or someone else. Button 11th, but could move up due to a couple of other drivers not lifting through a yellow flag in Q2, caused by Riccardo, who is doing good this year and he has got another contract for next year for the same team. Good on 'im
