1. Install latest drivers from:
http://nVidia.com/object/physx_system_software.html AND
http://GeForce.com/Drivers/beta-legacy

2. Run Hybridiz.exe (In WinXP "Connect anyway on VGA" and extend the desktop also.)

3. In each game directory right-click to make a ->"New Folder" to move the cuda* and PhysX* prefix-named folders or .DLL files, the only exception is that some games require their own PhysXCore* DLL ONLY so if the game crashes back to the desktop upon load/start then move that one back. NOTE: Always remove AT LEAST PhysXDevice* and NEVER PhysXExtensions*!
In your .ini file set: bDisablePhysXHardwareSupport=False

Did the above on my rig with a Radeon 7970 + 8800 GT. Everything maxed out, PhysX enabled and set to high, seems to work a-ok. Deforming cloth is working, anyway, so I assume PhysX is kicking. :)

NOTES:
1/ Ran hybridiz.exe as Administrator - not sure if it's required, but saved a repeat trip.
2/ I created a Phyx.bak folder in the steamapps/common/Borderlands 2/binaries folder. Moved all the PhyX*.dlls (with the exception of PhysXExtensions.dll) and all the cuda*.dll files in there.

Can you take a few screenshots dude? I've got Phsyx set to high and I am seeing a dramatic increase in particles and debris.

I have not changed or modified anything to enable this. It's simply unlocked in the options :). Basically what i'm trying to work out is: Is it actually working, or it's increased but there is still physx content missing because I don't have an nvidia GPU.

The options in-game or in the boot loader? When I first ran the game, PhysX was greyed out in the bootloader options - had to do the above to enable it.

Seems odd that yours just worked from the get-go. What GPUs do you have in your box?

It's not greyed out at all for me in the boot loader before launching the game, and it's available to configure in game from the menu. Yeah it just worked! :)

Clean (~1month old) install of win7 ultimate, pair of 6970's.

It is possible to manually change the settings, I never did this but i'm glad it's easy to change for those using physx who want to tweak a few things :)

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... stcount=30

Okay, I solved the mystery of the gray Physx settings. If you go into your config file, you can manually adjust the Physx levels. For others having my problem, here's what you do:

1. Go to your config usually found in Documents/My Games/Borderlands 2/WillowGame/Config

2. Open up WillowEngine.ini

3. Ctrl-F for PhysXLevel

4. 0 = Low (off) 1 = Medium 2 = High

The Physx settings will probably still be gray and unadjustable, but you'll see that it still works.

From some quick googling, it seems the implementation of PhysX in B2 allows for CPU offloading of the PhysX calls. If you're getting acceptable performance, good for you. :)

The above steps appear to only be necessary if you want to offload the processing onto a secondary NVidia GPU. Nice change... compared to titles like Arkham city where the software crippled the PhysX implementation and only allowed max settings on "compatible" hardware. Kudos to Gearbox!

That said... have yet to see if that applies to all the PhysX calls. Particles are one thing, fluid dynamics may be another.

edit: and I have NFI why PhysX wasn't available for me at first. Either it's because I'm not running Crossfire, have a slower CPU than you are... or was just plain mistaken? God knows.

edit2: It *may* have been because I was running a legacy (hacked) version of PhysX for prior PhysX support (under Arkham City, etc). The version I had installed may not have been compatible with B2.

Yeah that's why I'm interested in seeing some screenshots, could entirely be a placebo effect on my end just because the physx setting is ON :)

Also i noticed a big monster bleed and blood ran down hill ( only seen it once tho was too busy to notice if it happens all the time )

Sry at work i'll post screenie later if no one else does ( Im running 580sli tho )

Yeah I'm at work all day also , I'd test your suggestions otherwise :). Will get onto that later tonight!

Got same setup as Cas but mine said Low but blanked out. Fresh windows install with 2 6970's running latest drivers & CAP profile. I edited that ini file, I'll report back with findings.

Mine is working although my fps in firefights goes down to 30 or so, makes it unplayable :( CPU is at 4.7ghz too not sure how much difference it would make. I just put it to low & almost same performance hit, disable it & fps skyrockets.

Mine defaulted to LOW despite having an ATI card.

Can't really bump it up any higher than that or the game turns into a slideshow.

Yeah in menu mine is set to low but I think its disabled, not sure. On 0 or 1 in the ini file it displays Low in the menu. But 1 or higher fps bogs. Jealous as the physics look great lol.

While I'm running PhysX with an Nvidia capable card (not AMD sorry) this is what blood looks like... I had a bigger puddle pouring down a hill earlier but couldn't stop to take the screenie :P
