Slazza - those instructions are not complete, i copied the files, but steam doesn't just automagically know it is installed. I tried the "+ add a game" but nothing appears. How does steam know that it is now installed.

Having to download and run an EXE seems kinda ... silly, shouldn't the actual 3gb+ download BE the installer?

If i can't work it out, i'll just delete what i've unpacked, grab the 3gb file again with the second file and double click.

Just restart steam and it should come up

I found the secret hat (hint: it's purple) but lost it and couldn't bring it to Xen. Oh well.

What little I've played of it so far looks good too. :)

So i'm in Silo D, and I've gone down and activated two switches where smithers is to turn silo D power on. I've come back up, silo D power lights are on, but I can't fire the rocket. What do?

There is another level, 2nd from the bottom. Go out that way and follow it around and then start the fan, come back and then fire up the rocket.

And yeah that was it Bickety, in my haste to not die I'd missed the other doorway.

God knows how many times I died at those doorways... hit it with everything I got and there would be one piece of wood that just wouldn't break and the creature would nail me at the last second as I tried to get past. ;)

Just use a grenade to clear the wood. Then I would use a grenade to send them away, and I leave satchels behind and blow them when I reach the next level so that the creatures are always one step behind, mwhahaha! :)

They seemed to do more damage than the original HL ones, swear I lost like 50 armour in one hit even though I was sneaking because they just randomly switched levels and hit my general area.

I forgot how much Valve liked these kinds of puzzles, pretty sure Opposing Force had a similar creature that was defeated by turning on a valve and a gearbox... Except it had lasers...

Did a run through from start to finish last night, and I am absolutely blown away at the level this exceeded, every expectation i had for what this would become went above and beyond. I have followed since day 1, which i remember been a day or more after the initial Half Life 2 release and the first screenshot was the dam !! It did not let down. When I got of the train and those doors open I actually got quite emotional hahah!!

The small differences they made did not hurt the integrity of the game what so ever, if anything they made what was already great better. It solidifies Half Life 1 in my opinion as my favourite game of all time, and after 15+ play throughs over the years, this has given me the opportunity for maybe another 15. Without a doubt one of the greatest if not the greatest modding achievement ever.. If Valve don'f hire these guys, it's a massive crime to gaming.
