yeah, which would be fine if they didn't always unveil stuff as if it's the second coming of Christ.

They don't, they hype their products just like anyone else would, Samsung etc all do it.

It's the retards who **** their pants/spew **** about how apple is the devil every time they release a new product that elevates them to "Christ" status.

If people stopped flipping their **** lids every time apple released somethig new/different/gay whatever the haters want to call it, then it would be just another company releasing just another phone.

Apple sell simplicity, they always have, and IMO its the most user friendly for an novice or an expert.

Get used to it, of you think android is the best and apple is the devil, but a **** Samsung and shut the **** up.

There's a joke that goes something along the lines of "how do you know if your friend has an iPhone" "they'll tell you."

However, that joke should probably go something along the lines of "how do you know your friend has an android phone" "he'll tell you about how much better it is every time you drag into your pocket and grab your phone"

I sometimes wonder whether people who own android phones actually use all the features available, or whether they just one one out of "anti fanboy ism" half the stuff those phones can do is never even used, I personally don't see why you'd even add the functionality.

I'll probably upgrade once my current contract runs out. There's nothing excitingly different about the 5, but it's got some nice new improvements and the faster processor sounds good. The battery life upgrade would be nice too.

It's not Android fanboys lining up overnight to buy every single iteration of the iPhone and iPad. It's not Android fanboys that allowed Apple to practically outsource it's marketing department due to the mainstream media slavishly covering every release like it's the second coming. There is a massive amount of hype around Apple products and saying that it's caused by Apple anti-fanboys is just ridiculous.

Personally, I had an iPhone 3GS and loved it, then near end of my contract I was offered a Samsung Galaxy S2 by my provider, read some reviews and thought I'd give Android a try, despite being skeptical. And frankly, now I see what I have been missing by previously being on a device that only allowed me to use it in the ways Apple sees fit. I love the fact I can download files on my phone, then just access them from my phones storage. I love the fact I can download mp3s then just play them in my audio player. I love the fact that I can use my phone as a USB hard drive for moving files between work and home. I love the fact that the other week I could buy a cheap 32gig micro-SD card and triple the storage of my phone. I love the fact that after a year and a half my battery started to not hold charge as well, so I bought a new one to replace it. I love the fact that the apps are generally cheaper because Apple doesn't take a 30% cut of everything. These are practical benefits I use all the time, not like you say, ones which are held up as a reason for superiority without any real use.

That isn't to say that iOs couldn't win me back, I'm still considering an iPad but I'm waiting to see what the Surface tabs are like. But the fact of the matter is that Apple are losing a lot of market share to Android, and they are going to have to do more to win those people back than lawsuits and an extra row of apps. Sure, there are fanboys on every platform, but there are also a lot of people who are pretty technology agnostic, and they are the ones which move from camp to camp. They are the people Apple are losing.

This opinion piece from cnet is somewhat along the lines of my thinking, I had edited my previous post but since the site was (and still is being) ravaged by thousands of people having to make accounts to download Black Mesa (seriously that was never going to be a good idea) I gave up and watched some TV shows.

The brief summary of my edit was that the iPhone 5 would have been better marketed as the 4G since it's not a major change, just an incremental additions along 3Gs and 4s line and therein lies the problem.
It's the innovation year where 'everything changes again' and nothing has changed, either way they went 4G or 5 they were going to have disappointment as there was no innovation.

As the cnet piece says maybe they over extended themselves last year and have nothing new to offer, whatever the reason Apple is no longer 'changing everything' and are now playing catch up with 8~" tablets and updating Siri to catch up to Googles product (which is pretty amazing unless you like pictures of a stallion).

I don't mean to say that the android nazis make apple famous, what I was saying is the market dictates what is elevated to "Christ like"

Apple have every companies dream, clawing at the chance to have their latest product. But that's not apples fault the whole world shots bricks every time they release a new product.

Contrary to the rumours going around (somewhat started by Apple themselves funnily enough), you won't get a lightning to 30 pin adapter with an iPhone 5.

I made a fake order (didn't finalise) on the Apple Online store, and it seemed to imply that there was a 30-pin to Lightning adapter in the box...

Weird, it's not saying it's 'in the box' now. Hmm...

Doesn't affect me, got AirPlay speakers all up in my house and use Bluetooth audio in the car, but yeah it would have been nice to have in the box.
I guess if Sony and Microsoft can get away with selling their HD consoles with only composite cables, Apple can do the same with a seemingly important accessory :P

Except all you are talking about there is a standard HDMI cable you can get anywhere and for 10 bucks unless you get a rip off brand.

Yeah it is their fault. They deliberately tapped into their existing anti-big business turtle-neck wire frame glasses artsy fanbase from the nineties, supplemented it with people who "like it when I press the on button everything works" and proceeded to berate everyone else for being stupid for not using apple based products.

I have an iPhone 4S, and a 3G before that. I like my Iphones, they've been great. However the way the company has behaved in the last 8 months has left me sorely wanting to switch out to a more flexible phone (or even jail break my iphone) and give something else ago. Just like Sathias can do, I wish I could dl stuff to my phone and add it into a playlist straight away. I wish i could use this massive brick in my pocket as a USB device considering there's a whole lot of memory I'm not using in there. I also wish I could just dump video files onto it without having to convert them every goddamn time.

I'm sure it won't be terribly long before there are knock-off adapters :\
Maybe I should have used a component cable as the example instead of HDMI. Component cables have to be bought to connect to the console specifically and you can't use 'standard' cables.

It was just a throwaway comment anyway. As I said, it is a little lame that Apple aren't including the adapter, in the same way that it is lame that other devices don't come with things you would expect them to be bundled with.

That would be a great feature for an iPad. I was quite jealous of how easy it was for my brother to plug a USB HDD into his Acer Iconia and just play the files directly from it.

Usb storage is nothing new to the phone scene, even apple let you do it with thier older products seems silly of them to remove such a feature.

Maybe it will come as a revolutionary feature in a future iOS update much like the copy and paste.

The lack of NfC is particularly concerning as I see that as the future of mobile phones... no way I'm buying an iCarte to go with my Kaching so I guess I'll support the phone that has NFC whe it gets here.

I'm really happy with my iPhone 4 and I've spent heavily on the iStore so I am cautious about moving away from Apple... but I'm really interested to see what happens with Windows phones once Win8 is established... I'm okay with the app-like display of XBL and like how easily my PC, phone and Xbox can integrate.

How is the pricing a joke? Galaxy S3's pricing was pretty much the same for outright purchases release. iPhone 5s are on exactly the same plans for Telstra as the S3 ($60+7/month for the handset). How are they even remotely different?

I'm enjoying mine so far. Its incredibly smooth. Browsing is lovely. Siri is amusing, but still a gimmick. It'll probably be a while before more apps fully support the new screen size, but for now unsupported apps are the same as my iPod touch. The only issue I've found is when its plugged into my computer, it sometimes vibrates randomly because its not syncing properly. I'm hoping the new iTunes will fix that next month.
