It's really not obvious that the download link needs you to be registered :(

I believe it is one of the things that will change in the future (Not exactly sure how, ie could be a pop up, could be bigger text etc), but it is on the list of things (I believe) to make more obvious.

Edit: now at 17339 downloads (2k more than my post on the previous page in only 36 minutes)

Oh ffs, Thank you Grim-one! Been sitting here for the last 30 mins getting 404 error messages trying to download, since being directed here from the gameson.net mirror from the black mesa site doesnt mention anything about needing to be logged in :?

Was about to come here and rage when I saw your post

GON's having some troubles loading pages this morning. I wonder why. I wish the old file mirror was back so that next to the Black Mesa file it could say "Meltdown".

54 minutes to go till downloaded!

Oh, the GON mirror is actually on the Blackmesa site itself. No wonder this place imploded.

I'm quite embarassed.
I've had this sitting on my PC for hours and still can't work out how to actually play it? I didn't grab the extracting installer as i can already unpack 7z files. But there's no EXE, where do you copy the files for manual instrallation .... and why didn't steam release this and avoid this issue?

Will i need to grab the small Installer (Is the .EXE file hidden in there instead?).

It's not really obvious how you need to do it:

- Grab the 7z and the installer.
- Close Steam
- Run the installer
- Open Steam
- Find Black Mesa and hit play

I used the exe as it was the easiest way.

So far very good. I loved the intro, so much hilarious dialogue from security guards and scientists (maybe too much funnies?) though it was disheartening they all had the same voice (except for one or two story sequences) I expected more variation. Voice acting was generally ok, I think the security guards were done pretty well but scientists were done a bit poorly imo.

The new detail in the levels is pretty crazy and the developers really went crazy doing new things while keeping the levels the same in feel. The amount of references to later games is also very welcome. There's also bits here and there where they'd redo a sequence to make it make more sense. Not all levels do this however. The levels in the sewers just before Office Complex which is what i'm up to felt a little conservative compared to the huge showings of the intro.

Still a long way to go but so far a very impressive effort.

Btw, I didn't happen to see the bit where you look at a security screen and see the girl wheeling the 'sample' around, anyone else catch that or did they forget to add it in?

Go to sourcemods folder in steam/steamapps.
Create a folder named BMS.
Extract files into BMS folder.

It's the same as installing any other source mod manually.
