its kind of awesome to think about. Can't help but feel it would just about break the dynamic though, surely space fleets would make it far too easy to just nuke things from orbit. I think its important that even the most basic units maintain relevance throughout a game, just like zealots or something are always handy in StarCraft.

Not saying its unachievable, but maybe beyond the scope of what they can realistically achieve. Just thinking about it though, I'd love to see more RTS games where you can cut off/attack supply lines. Running in and knocking out some metal harvesters is OK but destroying ships (ocean or space :) ) full of precious cargo would be awesome. Granted however PA is set to use a stream based economy so maybe that won't work either.

You know I thought exactly that just after I posted. It would kinda break it. Maybe if they organised it as orbital fleets around asteroids they could pull it off, or make things short range only.

I dunno, we'll wait to see what the new stretch goals are! Also very close to throwing an extra $50 at them to get alpha access.. Convince me one way or the other, GO!

Who is saying the "fleets" have to be huge over-powered space titans of doom? Screw realism, they are going for awesome.
The space fleets could just be things similar to flying naval units. You could have hybrid land units that can fly off into orbit and turn into 'fighters', or submarines that can launch themselves into space as suicide torpedoes :D

SO MANY IDEAS! :D

I bought the Alpha access pack. Alpha access could quite easily mean an extra 6 months of game play. The chance to provide your feedback and ideas to the team. Its just more access to more awesome.

Don't forget they are in space so are quite vulnerable with all that space around them. I would assume that anything that could be used to possibly deflect an asteroid impact could be used to turn a space fleet into small chunks.

its really going to depend on how they capture the scale of everything.

I mean, what about launching spy satellites into orbit? or a Diamond-based orbital laser! (like in Diamonds are Forever, later to be ripped off by a movie in the same series... :? ).

If you're getting in on the Alpha access you're totally going to be GoN's idea mule by the way :D on the bright side you get to filter suggestions as you wish haha

Your many ideas and such are awesome ^_^

Secondly, if I also purchase access of the alpha variety... We could play 6 months early :D
