How does 3 sided warfare play like compared to what it is now atm? I've never played one before.

To be honest, I don't think majority of players will bother to download Sahrani.

Reshmaan will be a great choice for several reasons:
- Huge 20x20 map (Chernarus is 15x15). Most pubbers will love the idea of playing on a huge map!
- Majority of pubbers prefer Takistan. They like the desert environment. It's less cluttered and easier for new players to move around in and spot the enemy, etc.
- Good FPS performance.
- 450MB download is much better than 2GB (Sahrani).

If GON can make it available on their file mirror, it will be easier/quicker for players to download, until it comes out of beta and is available on the Six network.

Also, so the game is not ruined by constant tab-locking (large map, with small towns, no forests and just low lying hills), we really should run with MANDO's or something similar.

Visually I'd say I prefer Cherno over Taki but for performance reasons I'll usually put my hand up for Taki.

As for Reshmann, I don't think tab-locking will be too big an issue especially if missile range is left at 2500-3000 meters.
Another thing I like about Reshmann are that some of the towns can't just be tank sniped and driving in a tank would be suicide. Could make for some nice defensive positions where players might have to actually work together to take a town.

So.... Are there going to be new maps added? Or are we all collectively dreaming here? #devilsadvocate

Would love to see the slot number increased. Definitely more players than slots currently.

The max slot number on the server is still 64, I believe. Just need to add some more to the warfare mission and hope it doesn't choke hard again

Gave this a shot this afternoon (Reshmann) and really enjoyed it I think it would be a refreshing change at only 500mb but you've got to get people to play it which is the hard part.

First step I think is to increase the player slots. Then we can have more people playing regularly, perhaps enough for a 2nd mod server, otherwise hopefully still enough after we run mods (and lose some people) to still have a full sized game.

Didn't we have a 2nd server for mods a few years back? I remember it split the amount of players into half most of the time, and that mod server was left empty at the end ... don't know if that was just because people got bored with the new map quick or no one joined.

At the moment we have a very satisfying number of players at peak hours, I reckon we should do it right this time. People are joining to play Warfare on GON not just for the sake of the mission being Cherno/Taki right? I think it wouldn't hurt much if we run one server that iterate different maps/islands.

Hope this doesn't confuse you too much, what I'm saying is that if we run our own mod/map packs that have consistent update/ support from the server side or forum. This keeps it fairly simple for new players to learn, while increasing the fun factor to satisfy the expectations/requests from regular players, not to mention the potentials....
I can't see why should we waste our resources to run a second server that people might struggle to decide which server to join.

Anyway, we shall see how the new improvements impact the performance first, then see if we can plan something solid this time.

Correct me if I'm wrong ;)

Fallujah just devolved into tank/mi8/blackhawk spammy laggy clusterf-ck sh-tfest. The flat sands around the city were clogged with ATGMs and the city itself had an angry player or AI with AT around every corner. We did have a few full games on it, had a bit of fun, but the map just didn't work all that well for warfare. People played some co-op missions on the server occasionally too, and it's where we used to playtest GON community made versions of warfare.

As for the server... that got cannibalised for 2 DayZ servers.
8-)

This is probably a little bit irrelevant to the topic, but as a short-term solution of lacking of custom maps to play on at the moment. In case we decided not to play warfare for once, there isn't really a lot to choose from when the server is filled up a bit. Could we please have a volunteer to update the missions that are currently on the server, and also add few more fun missions to it at once?

I know there will definitely be haters blaming about the game is not being set up normally and telling you off to go somewhere else instead, so maybe a bit more warfare variants to suit them too. But I will start off by putting Zargabad warfare back in...
