Team GoN Server Choice

Hey Team,

With release just a few days away I thought I would refresh that decade old question "What server will you be playing on?"

I have been looking at "Sea of Sorrows" myself as it has the most hype as an un-official Au server.

Anyone else from GoN have any other thoughts on the matter?

I'm guessing I'll try to get on Sea of Sorrows and take a punt with the Aussies.

I'd like to play with some fellow GONers as I don't really know anyone else who is playing and dont have a guild lined up or anything.

Same, there's a good spread of Oceanic guilds on other servers anyway, as alot of them (including the guild I'm in) are going where their Alliance goes.

Really? People actually think there will only be enough Australians playing to fill one un-official Australian server?

I forsee massive queue's.

Does GW2 even have queues? I see a lot of overflow usage, maybe.

I'm not sure. Possibly Sea of Sorrows, maybe Anvil Rock (where I started in beta) or somewhere else entirely. My usual MMO peeps aren't getting it, at least not right away, and there's always guesting to friends on other servers, or transferring, etc.

I thought if we didn't spread out we might not get a lot of world vs world vs world going on.

Maybe all aussie should spread over war group ( or whatever it is they call 'em )

But im keen if there is a GON guild going up.

Aren't there limits on WvWvW populations? That'd be my biggest concern. If every Australian crowds on the one server, half won't get to play in our prime time, and then have to buy server transfers.

PvP arenas don't matter, as they take place on special arena servers.

WvW happens regardless of how many players a server has. There's no queue, it's a persistent battle. Servers are periodically rematched to ensure fair fights.

Structured PvP (ie; battlegrounds/warzones from WoW/SWTOR) is game-wide, I think? I don't think it matters what server you're on, it's all one pool as far as I know.

I just seem to remember from the beta people not being able to get into WvWvW due to their side exceeding the allotted population cap for a side. Could be wrong, but it's a distinct memory. Maybe they took a look at it.

True, there's an upper limit to how many people can play from one server at a time. But there's zero concern about never having anyone to play in WvW, especially not if you're on a high pop server. Being on a low pop server would be much worse since you'll end up matched up against other poor performers and low population servers. Boooring.

Also read somewhere that 'Isle of Janthir' will be the other unofficial Australian server if 'Sea of Sorrows' is way to overpopulated.

Damn lucky server transfers are free at the moment lol everything is filling up had to change servers 4 times now to get mates in as each gets on lol
