I usually try to respect cyclists. Today while driving I had a cyclist pull out in front of me (the cycling lane ended and instead of going on the footpath (there was a smooth ramp and everything) that the terminating bike lane was oriented towards) to go through a roundabout.

Just flicked his arm out about 30 degrees and didnt even look behind him to check if there was an approaching car :/
I cycle a shitload too. Cyclists belong on footpaths. There is some things for you.

If you think cyclists belong on footpaths you do not cycle 'shitloads'.

Lots of asshat's on bikes arround here, There was one retard riding arround with 4' of steel pipe sticking out on the right side of his bike to scratch anyones car that got to close. Havent seen the dumb **** for over 6months tho so maybe someone finally found his length of pipe with their car at 100kph.
Way I look at it, 100kph road = bikes should stay over the white line whenever possible, hazard to other road users otherwise. Theres a few arround here that ride single file and make an effort to stay close to the side of the road. When I see them I do my best to give them the entire lane if possible.
Then you have the some who ride arround 10kph dead center of the lane in a 100kph zone, no highvis, no lights and no tail car. Which is great fun to find when you go through a series of bends hauling a few tonnes.
About a year ago I had one idiot woman fall off her bike in the middle of the road, She was riding side by side taking up the entire lane, They were lucky the truck wasnt fitted with ABS brakes cause they would have kicked in, was on the verge of locking up to avoid killing their dumb arses, fairly sharp well cambered left-hand bend, was hauling a trailer with on-coming passenger car, no way I could pull off the road, there was a table drain so no where to go. Still stopped a good 5m away from her. Best bit.. there was a good meter of bitumen on the other side of the white line they could have been using.

Given a choice between hitting 2 idiots on bikes or a family in a car you can be damn sure Im going to choose the idiots and then claim they swerved out in front of me and there was nothing I could do.

And seeing as its the image thead ... heres some retards... Just look at all that space to the left ... Makes you wish for a police car doesnt it.

One of my mate's dad is a keen cyclist and he told me that (in SA) it is legal for 2 people to ride side-by-side (no more than 2) and a copper on the radio a while ago said that when there is a bike lane present a cyclist can't cross over the line just as a car can't swerve out of its lane. Should be illegal to ride on a road without a bike lane where the speed limit is over 100km/h IMO, plenty of times I have gone around a corner at 110 to find a cyclist in the way.

Now on with the pictures!

Yeah enough cyclist bashing. There's good and bad in the bunch, same as there's good and bad drivers out there :)

look, at the very least I'm making the air you breathe a little bit cleaner. :P Until the government actually does something to support bicycle commuting properly, I'll be putting my bike wherever is safest whether its against the rules or not.

yeah, this is all right and perfectly reasonable. The Tour de France wannabes are the ones that should be hated.

those people deserve to be hit IMO, anyone stupid enough to ride their bike in even an 80k zone is asking for a darwin award.

Speaking of idiots on bikes, 10 min ago one almost ran into me when I was driving the wife to the shops, completely stationary at a T-intersection, Guy on a bike comes flying off the footpath, bunny hops the bike off the curb then looks up and sees my big arse 4x4 stopped in front of him.
Im seriously considering buying a mobile phone, camera, or one of those car recorder thingys. Its just fkn amazing how bad people are at following road rules arround here.

And required silly image even if it is lazy..

EDIT: actually, theres no need to continue the cyclist banter. however, would someone mind PMing me exactly HOW cyclists being on the road is safer than being on the footpath?

Well technically, you aren't making it cleaner, you just aren't adding to the vast pollution :P

Actually I probably should have clarified, it's these guys I don't like. We used to call them spandex racers. Normal guys on bikes are generally fine as they don't ride in the middle of the road in the hills around blind corners.
