Please leave it in. It is invaluable for AFKs and I suppose future hackers. As suggested a 80% threshold would solve most problems.

no votekick always causes grief, some morons will use it to take over a server - pile all their mates on both sides and votekick other people off so their other mates can join. Either that or they just grief players by kicking them... like happened to you..

Exactly. Votes always, always end up making it easier for troublemakers rather than people who are actually trying to help the server out. For people who really deserve it a simple demo will suffice and they'll be permanently removed from all the servers (assuming they're really doing something they shouldn't be doing). Not to mention AFKers are removed fairly quickly anyway with a timeout kick. I'd much rather an AFKer or two than continuous popups for kicking someone who's just playing well.

/sigh

Always with the negatives first. Would be great if it could be left on with a higher threshold and then scaled/turned off as needed. I've been in the beta for about 3 months now and never seen it abused, I like to think most people do the right thing.

Auld, that is what happens when you have done admin duties. It doesn't take many jerks to screw up the enjoyment for everyone. I have seen it happen time and again both first hand and via demos of troublemakers. If it can be abused it will be.

So there was a competition for CS:GO beta keys on this site a while back and I managed to pick one up. Thing is, when I try to pre-order the game it says I already own it, but I haven't gotten anything except this BETA key, and it tells me that if I buy it I won't get any extra copies. I also got a news popup that claims I got a TF2 gun or something but it's not in my inventory.

Did anyone else get this problem? Or did my beta key magically turn into a full game? I don't want to buy it and lose it, but it would be cool to get a couple of bucks off and a TF2 item I might be able to trade for something else later down the track.

Yessir, I have that issue too. I was thanked for pre-purchasing and 'awarded' a TF2 item which I can't see nor find anywhere.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive: According to our records, you already own one or more of the items included in this package on Steam. If purchasing for yourself, see the Extra Copies support article to determine whether the items you already own can be shared with friends.

and this pic here ... it doesn't state I "Already own the game"

I think "already own" part is meant to be for the beta, seeing as it gives you that as a bonus, but I can't even buy the full game. Steam has derp'd.

I helped run Exetel's game's network for a few years, I am familiar with how "it" works.

My point was that it doesn't seem to be a problem on the servers I've played on. I've been in the beta for a while now and not seen it abused. Its really handy at times to get rid of troublemakers and AFKs. Upping the threshold removes the ability for it be abused easily, I honestly cannot see how often you are going to find 10-16 people willing to jump into a server just to votekick people. Easily recorded and easily dealt with by GoN's admin team.

Yeah I did too. I just bought it and it showed up as in my Library as the non-beta CSGO version. You can just ignore the warning.

You now also get "The AWPer Hand" in TF2 (which, from the looks of it, is a sniper rifle for the Sniper class).
DRM is like kids. The less you have, the better.

I would, but my "Purchase for myself" button is greyed out and I can't buy it for myself. I'll just buy it once it comes out, only save $1.50 and get a TF2 item I'd never use. Stupid Steam ruining my fun. -__-

Keep in mind not all the tards have made the move across yet. Vote kicking doesn't work and it gets abused far to much. It was on the 1.6 servers for years and always caused problems till it was disabled. CS:S got a run for a very short period and removed for the same reason (after vote count needed was raised).

Unless you have others, looking at your 2 listed reasons:

Afks - This is simply fixed by adding an auto kick after 1-2 minutes of no movement.
Troublemakers - You are not fixing the problem by kicking them, they simply leave your server only to rejoing or join another server to continue doing the same thing. Sure its a short term fix but its not a solution to the problem.

Vote enabled bans/kicks are good for servers that are not maintained by active admins. Given GON deal with most troublemaker reports withing a few days and normally have at least 1/2 CS admins in IRC, having the !admin command is a much better system then simply kicking someone so they can join a different server.

The thing that is most annoying is when a couple of people start accusing the person who is on top of hacking when they are not. I used to play on those DTK servers and the amount of times I got vote banned for "Hacking" really annoyed me. All it takes is a few to get started and most will just vote for the sake of getting it off their screen.

-1 for vote kicking from me but I suppose its now up to the admins to make that decision :P

not sure if this got a mention before in this thread - but I think the votechangemap feature needs to be cut.

continuing CS' trend of gathering the worst of the impatient tards from everyneck of the woods, it so annoying to be in the middle of a round then to be interupted by a change in map cause the winey teens can't play anything bar dust and inferno...

plus the amount of times where a change map gets through because team x is getting dominated and it resets all the scores.

What also makes me laugh is the amount of 'HK' players out there playing solely for KD. Just last night i saw a guy grab an awp, sit back at spawn, wait for his team to be eliminated, then wait for the CTs to come to him. Almost every time we'd lose the round cause the timer run out - but at least his precious KD remained high... don't these tards realise the stats will be reset when it goes live....

other than that - its your usual funtastic/rage fest game depending whos on your team. :D
