Legendary Changes for 1.0.4

This stuff is looking to be REALLY good, I found a legendary the other day, and it was horrible, vendored it.

Can't wait for these changes.

It's a really good read if you sit through all of it.

On my end, the design end, to get the uniqueness into Legendary items, we've added custom effects to over 50 of them. Here are just a few.

He goes on to list a few of the new effects, this is a video of the Artists giving new/additional visual effects the items.

Comparison of the same item, before and after.

That's really cool. Looking forward to resuming playing the game after a bit of a hiatus. When's this patch coming?

Haha... Accidental timing I'm sure.

I'm hoping the boost in damage for two handed weapons is consistent across all levels and not just at lvl 60+. There was never all that strong a reason to go two hand over dual wielding or weapon + off-hand (except for the DH).

And while they're working on aesthetics in patch 1.04, they really need to allow Wizards to hold staves with one hand and a orb/skull/etc with the other... would look cool to have a walking stick. Wands are so Harry Potter and a Staff is more LOTR... and I don't see Diablo 3 belonging to the same PG13 classification as Harry Potter.

They did good when they allowed the Monk to use two handed swords (I love seeing my Monk with a Nodochi)... pity their damage and bonuses is pretty poor compared to dual wielding fist weapons. I still keep a semi-decent Nodochi in my stash for posing purposes.

The Mage in Diablo 1 held a staff, so did the Archbishop Lazerus.

The 2handed thing was an increase across the board, (not just legendaries) so I assume it's for lower level as well.

yeah. looks like they definitely increased max crit damage to 200%, and I believe they increased other max rolls.

one of the bigger things is that they have unlocked damage on level 61 and 62 weapons. so you might not be getting high LOH or stat rolls, but they can still do a bunch of damage.

they've also released some notes on the changes they are implementing for the barbarian and wizard.

Seems a bit like D2. D2 was pretty ordinary at first in the items department.

Looks like I might re-roll and jump back in. Only ever played Barb on release and now might be a good time to have some fun :) Good timing too, just after Hockey season ends hahaha.

Nonsense. Lazarus left his staff on a rack. He didn't hold it.

I'm glad that they're increasing the damage of some of the skills for the Barb and Wizard to make them more appealing. I like Cleave in comparison to Bash and Frenzy so this could make it a more viable skill to continue using in late game.

However, for the resource spenders, I do wish that they would just reduce the resource required for some of the skills rather than just make everything high damage. Sometimes, you just want to use a skill more frequently because it's better than the resource generating ones but the high consumption of resources just doesn't give you that chance.

Twas just reading the changes to the Monk, WD and DH:

- Love the fact that seven sided strike is getting a buff. It felt OK in Normal but in Nightmare, I could already sense it's weakness and as I like how the skill works, I'm glad that it'll now work better.
- Really pleased that the WD's pets tank well up until Act 3 of Inferno. I doubt I'll finish inferno with the WD so this is fine for me. Was hoping to not have to get rid of my pets.
- They probably won't change around enough with the other hatred generating skills to get me off Hungering Arrow. I really wanted an Archer for my ranged character. Not sure if I'll also switch from Elemental Arrow to another high damage skill either. I do like the fact they're buffing Sentry. It's another skill I've enjoyed using.
