Sleeping Dogs: General Discussion

Sleeping Dogs: General Discussion

Unread postby Cas Bitton » 14 Aug 12, 4:06 pm

So Sleeping Dogs unlocksin a few days right now! across Australia, anyone else grabbing it? :)

Trailers are looking good and the added support for a number of PC features is always welcome!

Keen to check out the HD texture pack when I can.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/202181/ wrote:The high-resolution texture pack updates the game to a new level, bringing eye-watering detail and crisp clear rendering to everything from city skyscrapers to ancient temples.

You need 1Gb or more graphics memory in order to use the High resolution Texture Pack. Please make sure your system requirements exceed the recommended specs before attempting to install.

When installed, the High Resolution Texture Pack is an option in the game’s graphics settings. Please configure it after installing the Pack.

If you have other info or tweaks i'd love to know :D - Apparently (as expected), High Quality SSAO (Screen Space Ambient Occlusion) is absolutely destroying frame rates. So for those of us who love to dive in and slide everything to max, think about it before you do that one. It's not a friendly graphics option at all but the results are fantastic.

I'm playing it now :ugeek:, it's unlocked in America ;) (VPN *cough*) . Only just started and already can tell this is going to be a very interesting game game, love the combat!

I am playing without the High Res texture DLC(free) due to the above situation :P and it still looks amazing, runs very smooth as well.

One hour gameplay by TotalBiscuit, with commentary/his views on it compared to the likes of JC2/GTAIV/SR3

Pre-load was 5.5GB when I headed off to work this morning.

Had to restart my PC and stopped Steam mid arvo, I'm pretty certain that my attempt to download the HD texture pack (I tried adding it to my cart/steam via the web) was successful! :D

Is trying to download 9.3GB of content now. Also worth mentioning I'm not using a VPN or anything of the sort. Game is just happily pre-loading away :).

Now to cross my fingers and see if it let's me actually play the game early hahaha!

Game was completely off my radar until reading about the PC enhancements/general goodness Square Enix are doing for PC users. Then I read some more about the game, sounded like something I'd like and then I pre-ordered it.
Doing good things for PC players gives you more sales :P
I swear the TF2 items had very little to do with my buying decision...

Anywho, didn't realise it was available to pre-load, I'd better get onto that!

Sleeping Dogs must be a tasty morsel of videogame if Steam ate it! Makes me look forward to it even more! ;)

Yep got it pre-loaded. They're talking about it now on Good Game, looks really good.

I can't seem to find where/how to get the HD pack, I assume it'll show up after AU launch. Kind of defeats the purpose of the initial pre-load though if we have to download more later.

Pre-ordered it back in June after seeing a 5 minute preview of it on YouTube. Was tossing up between getting on the 360 or the PC, but alas, I'm running a 460 and need a 560 at least to do the game justice. The burdens of PC gaming. :(

Guess I'll have to wait until Thursday (or earlier if it breaks street date) to see if it's as good as it looks.

That was an awesome surprise to wake up to! The Australian release date got pushed forward to RIGHT NOW! :D

No need to use any magic tricks, the game should be ready to play.

Did anyone catch the review on Good Game last night?

Also, there may be new drivers from Nvidia and AMD to combat the performance degradation with SSAO maxed out.
