Someone came forward about the kitten today and i gave it back today :( They didn't seem to be very worried about it. They just let it roam being that young and i reckon i'll see it soon and when i do.... it's mine.

Aww that sucks. If they sound as nonchalant as you describe them to be, I'm surprised they even bothered to collect the cat. Did it come with a collar? Nothing worse than letting cats roam around outside with at least a bell on their collar.

Make a trail of food from their house to yours. Once cat is reacquired, paint it orange.

"Oh, yeah. I had so much fun with your cat that I actually went out and bought my own. You lost yours again? Bummer."

Hahaha, that's awesome. I hope the owners (and I use that term very loosely) give up and not try to find the cat.

What would you do if the owners approach you again to see if the cat has returned? I'm sorry to be Buzz Killington but if you refuse to give back the cat, it could be seen as stealing. Maybe offer to buy the cat off them? I would contribute to a money pool in order for the cat :D

keep the cat as an indoor cat if you can, if the owners come asking, just say you saw it playing a few houses away or something.

Well not to be a wet blanket, but please make sure you understand the situation with the owners of the cat. Usually cats are allowed to roam free (with a collar and bell of course). My point is that they may be attached to the cat, but just not showing it.

My advice would be to return the cat if they come asking again, but keep your door open for the cat to come in whenever. As in entice it to become your cat, but don't refuse the owners if they come asking. If it happens often then maybe suggest to them giving/selling the cat to you!

I'm assuming it has a microchip, and if they've registered it or have records of it they can get you for kidnapping if you lie to them and hide the cat.

The owners didn't seem worried at all that she was gone, at first they didn't think it was theirs. They just let her roam free without a collar, bell or microchipped. I understand that the owners might have been attached that's why i returned it the first time but upon their reaction from the delivery and it's living environment i felt pretty annoyed.

If i return her she's just going to keep coming back so this will save me the time and trouble of returning her everytime. Ralph, im pretty confident they won't approach me. And yeah Celty she's going to be kept mostly indoors.
