looks rather decent imo... a little "Tomorrow When The War Began" but with yanks... still it looks watchable. Havent minded ol Chris Hemsworth's movies lately... Aussies represent!

I think it could go either way. Depends if they make it with a dash of plausibility or just "hollywood" all over it.

Its a remake of an old Patrick Swayze movie. Tomorrow When the War began was actually a rehash of it, not the other way around. I don't mind Hemsworth either - he does a very, very believable 'action guy' (mostly because he's frackin huge) but I'm not so sold on the film myself. Its been in development recut hell for THREE YEARS. This movie was filmed and done back in 2009, ffs. But they changed the bad guys from Chinese to North Koreans and then did a whole bunch of other stuff and I really don't think its got a shot at being a good movie any more.

I thought the delay was because of all the financial trouble MGM had?

Probably one more delay on top of the others. They almost certainly changed them to North Korean's because of that very financial trouble - any film with negative china connotations wouldn't get filmed in China at all, and China is a big, big market these days.

Looks watchable but definitely has the potential to be more of the same old rubbish that Hollywood churns out. That being said I will probably go see it anyway.

don't know why they would bother remaking it... you're never going to beat sheen and swayze and the whole idea is nowhere near as relevant anymore.

^^

Pretty much this. I know movies are make believe and all that, but the notion of any country invading the U.S. (especially in today's context) just seems ridiculous. I mean maybe the context of the cold war in the 80's and the fact that it involved nasty 'ol Russians made the Swayze version a little more plausible, but nowadays movie-goers expect a little more believability.

This looks like a rental for me...

Problem with these stories is that I can never believe that a bunch of kids/whatever can do better in an insurgency than trained soldiers (which always seem to just all vanish).

Hope they changed the ending from the first movie, that was ****.
