As per discussion on Twitter, I think it's way too early for it to be a Halloween update yet. It's much more likely to be an update in early September or, as speculated on Reddit, something to do with birthday celebrations later this month. The original Team Fortress was released August 24th and this is hinting at birth-related stuff.

If it's Halloween then they've started the build up far earlier than anything they've done before!

Still. All aboard the speculation train, choochooooo! :)

Sounds like they are adding a 3rd team.

This is something for TF2's Birthday for sure and as mentioned it is August 24th. It will be its 16th birthday. End of October is too far away for them be releasing things now.

I daresay robot update.

I imagine this Gray fellow is the one mysteriously missing from the picture/will of Zephaniah Mann.

It is certainly interesting what they have pieced together over the years. Thanks for the link Skitzor :)

yeah, the attention to detail of some fans is really amazing.

would be really cool if what they have pieced together is true. it would be both a credit to the fans for getting it, and valve being able to tell a story through small and obscure details.

If it is true, it's pretty cool that this is something 2 years in the making. It takes a lot of confidence in a game to plan something ahead for the next couple of years.

So, this means for the past 2 years, every time someone played in offline mode they were testing and providing feedback to Valve?

The Gray team has been training against players, learning every tactic and move ever used against them?

This actually interests me enough to make me want to reinstall TF2.. which I haven't played in a very long time.
