Classic maps

Unread postby BlaZe42 » 8 Aug 12, 2:12 am

Lots of people seem to want to play these maps.. but do any of you actually have working versions?
maps like: 747, Siege ,Vegas ,Vertigo ,Estate and Oilrig etc

there is many versions of these maps around but the vast majority aren't really good enough to be used

cs_747 --> http://gamebanana.com/css/maps/10540 this copy would be unsuitable due to the radar not quite working, on top of that its incredibly bias towards Ts and the textures are for cs 1.6

this is a slightly upgraded version of 747 but no longer a hostage map --> http://gamebanana.com/css/maps/164298
the problem with this is once again the radar doesn't work

one of the few old school maps that seems to work atm would be this version of siege --> http://kf.csplanet.net/maps/2032-cs_siege_2009 i haven't found any problems with it just yet

if anyone has links to working versions of old maps or a new suggestion please post them here.

These older maps have to be re-written to work with the source engine.

I found a couple of links just quickly but didn't try them out myself

Wasnt able to find any updated versions of those maps..sorry!
not sure if you guys deleted de_cpl_mill purposely or not, just wondering why ?
Would you be able to introduce a map vote feature to #07 where it lists 4-6 maps at the end of time, then the players decide what they would like to play?

Not sure if you wanna have a look at these, theyve all been used in comps before!

Again, doesn't seem complete, and I don't know how to test it...

de_vertigo - works well and we've already tested it on server 7, will likely go into the map cycle soon

cs_siege_css - works as far as i can tell.. thats the next one to get a test

cs_estate - mostly works but I'm getting 1 texture bug --> http://i.imgur.com/3wOci.jpg might be just me though so if someone else has a look it would be quite helpful

as_oilrig - not sure how this will work as i don't think CSS has a built in VIP mode, will have a look around for mods

tried all these maps and all seems to be in order, will put them on a list for people to vote on once this thread has progressed a little

the version we were using was one that had the easter egg --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K0W7YIcqGo
and people started using it far too much, if you have one without this then it can be put back in the cycle

1st one is same as the one fimmwolf posted

2nd version is better, texture bug fixed and the ladder at back no longer goes all the way to the roof.. that was a bit unfair
when on terrorist players sometimes spawn on top of each other though (only tested with bots and its rare)

howdy gentlefolk,

i've seen vertigo in the rotation a few times (after office i believe?)

however, it seems to make people either crash or lag quite horribly for a while upon joining

anyone corroborate on this?

vertigo has only been on when an admin switches the map

as for crashing so far I've only come across 2 people with the problem and 1 managed to fix it by turning off multi core rendering, the other didn't even try, if people don't come to the forums and post such bugs then they may be overlooked

Hey Blaze. I was having crashing issues too with vertigo. I turned off multi core rendering like you suggested and it fixed it.

Also, check out cs_siege_2010 for a GREAT make of that map.

Cheers,
Brocky

seems it may be an motd issue, yet to confirm this as I haven't had a chance to follow the advice in this forum yet: http://gamebanana.com/maps/157916?vl%5B ... =PostsList and test it with server #7

As for classic maps, I vote for 747, estate, backalley, militia, siege, survivor, Vegas and the list goes on... theres 2 or 3 cs_maps and the rest are de_maps on server #7, perhaps a bit more of an even mix?

Or you could leave server #7 with the same dull valve prepackaged maps and get rid of the warmod server #22 that i've never actually seen anyone else play in and make that a classic/custom 32 player server with all of the above and more such as de_boston,
cs_ship_tws2, CS Metroplex @http://www.binaryspace.info/level-design/cs_metroplex/, de_dust2_pro @http://gamebanana.com/maps/157916, de_district23 @http://gamebanana.com/css/maps/137258 some awesome looking maps out there to play.
