From that pic I can see the keys better, I do see the media keys, although the need for the function keys would be irritating. I use the calculator button a lot. :P

Hotkeys are simply irritating, having keys there for that sole purpose is a lot more functional. I am incredibly lazy.

The Ducky does look nice, but I don't know what switches I'd want / need. I've never used a mechanical keyboard before, and for that price I can't really afford to choose wrongly. :/

Yeah, that is the hardest part.

If it helps, I went with browns and while they are great, if I had my time again I'd probably get blues although I still haven't tried them. Its totally worth it either way though, these days I'd honestly rather wrestle with text to speech than use a rubber dome keyboard.

The four buttons on the top right are function keys. Calc/My Computer/Email/Internet ;)

What do you mean? "text to speech"?

I don't know anyone who has a mech keyboard so I can't test which one I like the best. :( I guess I'll just have to hope I make the right choice. :/

The Ducky Dragon edition is nice ;) Been using it for a few days now. No complaints so far. I went for brown switches which has a yellow/gold type led. I can post a picture if you'd like to see the LED colours a bit better.

Edit: erm, I am over-tired. I just realised that is the normal Ducky in the pictures. Anyway, it's still a very popular keyboard.

Sorry to pinch your thread here pirateeggs, im also in a keyboard bind . Currently have a g510 and i hate it, key depress is too deep and typing is a pain. Gaming is the number 1 choice for this new board, been reading up on the corsair k60, but the key fading issue worries me (live in regional qld cant have wasted time sending faulty boards too and fro). Im fairly heavy handed on the keyboard so id assume red or black switches would be well suit. Any help would be appreciated.

Thats what I got (except the original). Personally the cherry red does the job for me, as I find that I can type on it for extended periods no worries. If the keys were any harder, I'd reckon I'd get more hand fatigue. Great for gaming, and cant beat mech switches :)

I wouldn't mind a new keyboard too, my old G15 is getting on a bit. Are there any decent mechanical keyboards that are backlit and have separate media keys that don't share the F1-F12 keys?

Only one I'm aware of is the Corsair K90, individually backlit keys, and media controls on the right above the numpad.
The K60 has the media keys, but not the backlighting.

Only thing that annoys some about the Corsair mech boards, is that they're not entirely mechanical. the F keys, macro keys I think etc, are all rubber membrane, so it's just the central main area that uses mech switches.
Whether that matters to you is another question.
