Sorry, I guess I was wrong. :/ I read it the wrong way around. :|

I had my account banned a while back for gifting from a VPN account (I was stupid about it and didn't do it thorough enough). It had roughly 200 games on it. I was lucky to get it back, so I don't risk using any overseas method anymore.

It's a bit annoying having such a restriction on digital content. Oh well...

I'm with SaNE, my purchases have always been USD since it changed over from the WON system...

You're supposed to make another account only to be used through VPN's so it doesn't leave the country, then pay with paypal or prepaid debit card.

A few back and forth emails with Steam Support. Not having any kind of mark (VAC bans or anything) helped.

I did this, however I used an AU paypal with said account and they put 2 and 2 together and banned both. I think If I created a new US paypal it would be fine. Oh well. There isn't a whole lot I want that's not available. I purchased most of it already :P

Also (regarding pricing) check out link: http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/08/beati ... o-stop-it/

Specifically the below:
We’ve been chatting to sources close to the inquiry, and they’ve told us that one option that is being considered is changes to Federal competition law that will make it illegal for vendors to block an Australian’s access to cheaper international prices for software if it is purchased via an online distribution method.

It is understood that companies would still be allowed to georoute users — that is, point them at Australian prices first — to Australian-priced stores, but the users would then have the option of changing their country to the US to take advantage of cheaper prices.

Interesting turn of events to say the least.

a bit of a tl;dr of the new contract made by reddit user nahojjjen.

more discussion on this on the article marius linked, as well as the r/games and r/gaming threads on the picture linked.

a lot of the discussion revolves around what it's like in America vs what it's like in Europe, would be interesting to see what it's like in Australia.
