The Dark Knight Rises [Spoilers]

Awesome wrap up to Nolan's trilogy imo. I'm not sure if I'd rate this or The Dark Knight better, but TDKR is certainly up there with it.

SPOILERS BELOW. Don't read this if you haven't seen the movie lol.

Story was a good interpretation of a number of different stories from the comics as well continuing themes and arcs from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Alot of people were a bit iffy on Anne Hathaway, but she absolutely nailed the character of Catwoman. She had the humour, sex appeal and physicality spot on. The Batman/Catwoman interplay worked really well. And they even included Holly Robinson (the blonde chick that was hanging around with Selina)!

Tom Hardy was superb (if slightly hard to understand at times) as Bane. They captured his brutal physicality really well, but also put a good emphasis on his intelligence. His 'Breaking of the Bat' scene was captured very faithfully to the comics which was great. Perhaps his 'death' scene was a little weak (Catwoman just blasts him away with the cannon on the Bat-pod lol), though I guess it wasn't explicitly shown that he died.

Miranda Tate/Talia al Ghul - I was convinced she was Talia before watching the movie, but all the interviews with Nolan and Cottilard explicitly said she wasn't. I guess they aren't above lying to protect plot twists lol. But when they had Miranda take over as CEO of Wayne Enterprises I knew she was gonna be revealed as Talia (in the comics she takes over as CEO of LexCorp when Lex Luthor becomes President of the US). Both Talia and Catwoman were really strong portrayals of female characters too, especially since they didn't cheapen Talia's villain status and kept her on as essentially the ultimate Big Bad of the movie.

John Blake was interesting. I guess he was Nolan's interpretation of how a Robin would work in a 'realistic' setting. Literally having his real name as Robin Blake was a little on the nose though lol. I guess it's up to the viewer to decide whether he takes up the mantle of Batman after Bruce's "death" like Dick Grayson in the comics, or whether he actually becomes Robin to Bruce's Batman.

Alfred, James Gordon and Lucius Fox all got good moments though they did seem slightly sideline compared to the previous movies. Alfred leaving because he disagrees with Bruce's motivations was straight from the comics, same with Gordon leading the cops in the cut-off Gotham City.

I thought it was a brilliant movie, but like you (I think) i didn't really get the WOW factor from this movie like I have from his other movies. IMO, I just think Cristopher Nolan writes/ Produces a exceptionally high and consistent standard of product that we take his high standard of story telling and movie making for granted....basically he's spoilt us!

Bane, I had a hard time understanding him. Anne Hathaway as Catwoman...Wow, i mean Wow....She was smoking!!. I want to buy that cat suit for my wife.

Good to see my favorite and one of the most underrated Australian actors, Ben Mendelsohn in the movie too.

A really, really good movie.

Spoiler/ surprise alert

Also, exciting Chris Nolan has turned his attention to Superman for 2013, that tease before the movie looked awesome!

Just came back from a viewing... Not bad. It certainly didn't have the 'wow' factor as mentioned. It was a good story though.

I give it a 1/10 because Teal'c doesn't go down that easily.

I missed the Man of Steel teaser QQ. Also Teal'c QQ.

It was a good movie, I feel that overall that Dark Knight was a significantly better movie because it was just extremely well written and the stories were more tightly intertwined, a bunch of the side stories in DKR I didn't feel had much weight and didn't really go anywhere sometimes. There were also a bunch of cliche storytelling moments. It also made some of the mistakes of getting too big and ridiculous, the scenarios present just weren't really grounded or believable like they were in the previous films plus there were a bunch of *jackie chan face* moments lol. Catwoman was well done however and Bane (except for his last moments) was quite well done too (even if Joker was far more memorable) even if he was hard to hear for much of the movie. I'd go on with what I liked and didn't like but no one wants to listen to me lol so i'll just say it's a good movie and worth seeing but not nearly as good as Dark Knight imo.
*Insert negative stuff here.*

Very enjoyable movie and a great ending to the trilogy imo. But as other have said not without its faluts. My main gripe with it was Bane's voice acting, sounded like it was tact on after filming (which I'm sure it was), it was quite loud all the time, but still hard to understand what he was saying.

But apart from a few faults, a great movie!

Same feelings as most of the other posters. Bane was a strong character until he was delegated to the role of henchman. Great performances from all of the cast. How battered did Christian Bale look in this movie?

I enjoyed Batman Begins more and TDK was a better constructed movie but TDKR is still top notch stuff. This has definitely been one of the few trilogies where all the movies have been quite strong from beginning to end and gelled together relatively evenly The only other Trilogy IMHO to have done that was Star Wars (won't count LotR as The Two Towers had editing problems IMHO... which the Special Ed did fix mostly).

Anyone else wonder how a knife got through Batman's armour? It was mentioned in Batman Begins that 'this sucker will stop a knife'. They did make adjustments in the second movie to increase his mobility but wasn't that only around the joints? Guess Wayne tech has a use by date.

After the fight with Scarecrow and the mobsters at the start of The Dark Knight, Bruce goes to Lucius Fox with a request for more flexible armour so he 'can turn his head'. Fox mentions that it will make him a bit more vulnerable to knifes and bullets though.

Point taken... but stretching it. Doubt Fox needed to make adjustments to the lower torso area of the armour just so Bruce could turn his head. I'll try not to think about it too much as it'll spoil the movie. Will just assume that he's wearing armour of the same material in Batman Returns which Catwoman scratched through.

Just got back from the Sydney IMAX and my goodness what a movie. I personally thought this was a better movie than TDK overall and enjoyed this one the most out of the 3 movies. Bane was just insane. Completely ruthless and almost scary in his portrayal. I didn't have any real issues understanding what he was saying. I loved how his voice was almost refined in a way too. Hathoway nailed Catwoman in that she skated the line of good/bad really well. She was also dead sexy. I'm very tempted to go watch this again at some point because I loved it that much. Also, if you're within range of an IMAX theater(especially Sydney) then go and see it there. It makes a world of difference.
