Steam metre - Updated

Steam metre - Updated

Unread postby CreationsAU » 21 Jul 12, 7:45 am

With the steam sale running at the moment ive been picking up games all week but ive noticed that when downloading my game it seems to be going against my account quota even though ive connected to the internode steam server.

Have the unmeted rule been changed with the recent merger with iiNet or anything like that?

Has anyone else noticed this happening.

Just because you select Internode as the preferred content server does not mean it will download from that server, nor does it mean that server even has the content you are after.

This - it works brilliantly - filtering out the old style content servers as well as the http delivered CDN servers.

ok so follow up post this hasn't seemed to have worked, I downloaded installed restarted steam restarted the program and then downloaded something to test it and it STILL took off my quota.

I also run steam so I could see which server it was taking data fro it had advertised that it was coming from Games.on.net servers.

Is there some plans on node that don't include unmetred steam?

I'm running on the 60gig reach plan at the moment, and ill be contacting node technical support as soon as possible as far as i'm concerned im owed download quota.

Node Unmetered will roll back at a later time (usually within a few hours). I am not saying you did get unmetered, all I am saying is give it some time to roll back.

Just for clarification, Node don't/can't guarantee where your steam downloads come from.

So it takes quota and then it gets reimbursed at a later time, has it always worked this way?

As long as I remember anyway :)

Access to unmetered sites will initially appear in your measured usage totals, and will then be 'wound back' off your usage afterwards. This adjustment normally occurs within a few hours.

Well it has now been around 10 hours and my account has NOT be reinstated with the data, does the weekend effect these roll backs at all?

It usually happens by midnight of the same day (or a few hours after you have downloaded the item). So if you are still missing the quota then I would say it has counted towards your monthly quota.

Internode do not control where you get your steam downloads from, nor do they control what is or isn't available on the Content Servers (That is all controlled by Valve/Steam).

Yep I understand that, but when I was downloading it clearly stated with was being provided by the GON servers.

I'll call tech and see what they say.

More than often Steam downloads from multiple servers at the same time, not all of these will necessarily be unmetered.
