Sadly, while I am really interested in this I live to close to industry now... all I see when I look up is a red haze, a reflection from the Port Kembla steelworks.

EDIT: Took the time to actually look at your picture. Seems you have picked up the doppler shift of stars with a clarity that text book examples only dream of.

I never cease to be amazed every time we go hunting at how amazing the sky looks when you aren't in town or a city, beautiful.

Now that you've mentioned it yes I do.

Also, is it possible to obtain an original of this photo that I may use as my desktop background? I do not mind if it is watermarked somewhere on the edges.

Thanks for the comments,
I am a total newby at this type of photography so other than aiming my camera straight up for 30 seconds I have no idea what I am doing.

Here is another one we shot a few nights after the one above at the local beach,

and a 1920px version if you want it for a desktop. figuresofstick, this might be better as a desktop due to its orientation. If you would still like the other file I am happy to send it to you, it is quite large though (33mb)

This last one had way to much light damage to be useful but it still looks ok I guess.

That second one is perfect :) thank you very much :D. Also that last one looks amazing, the extra light just makes it look all the more impressive. :D
