Ghost Recon:Future Soldier

Unread postby X66WeeD666X » 5 Jul 12, 1:43 pm

Anyone playing?

The game itself looks pretty nice, smooth, and widescreen users get a fix at the end of the month.

Would like to get into some multi though, single player can only last so long!

Currently playing, MP is a little scattered due to how it brings together players from all over the world, yet to have a pure Aus/NZ match... so killcams look a little dodgy.

Pretty sure my Uplay is DarkMellie and I'll be on after 11pm.

Having played it to death on Xbox already I can state that if you haven't yet played the campaign (anything less than Elite isn't worth it) then you're missing out. Guerilla is also great fun with other players.

Bought it to play co-op, co-op is non functional for myself and my friends, haven't looked at it since. I'll check back in a couple patches maybe.

I picked it up, only played the first few missions though. I dunno seems alright so far, i've had a few issues with it though (keybinds and performance mostly) so it's lowered my excitement to play it for now.

Been giving it a go since the last patch. Can still only manage to get 2 people into a co-op game at any one time though, so that sucks. Game itself isn't too bad, it's no Rogue Spear but it does have its moments. Technically speaking though;

Menus make my GPU run at 100% and overheat my video card which crashes the game. So I can't stuff about in them for too long, so that's fun. Otherwise graphically speaking it's pretty average. Having to run a GTX570 with medium settings on a console port just to get things running smoothly speaks volumes about how **** a job they've done at porting it.

Mouse remains floaty and weird, it's twice as hard as it should be to aim at things. Unskippable loading screens and mid-level videos **** me to tears, the game is loaded up and it's forcing me to sit through shiny graphics and a slow fade-in for no good reason.
And sometimes it just randomly crashes for no good reason at all.

In spite of all of it, when it does work it really is a bit of fun. Just really hard to bear the faults. I think Mellie's review of it was spot on.

My review is up on the front page - http://games.on.net/2012/07/review-ghos ... oldier-pc/

Any agreements with your own experience?

Oh you are such a skimmer Mellie. I did say your review was spot on, you covered all the bases - great game, terrible packaging.

I've had my eye on this game for some time. I do plan on getting it once I have some money, but that likely won't be for some time. I can say that there is probably one good thing about this game not being as popular as Modern Warfare of Battlefield, I'm less likely to stumble onto spoilers.

Do you guys think it's worth the $60? I'm planning on getting it from BigPond: http://www.gamearena.com.au/shop/games/ ... /index.php

It's definitely not worth $60 in its current form, maybe after the 1.4 patch...whenever that is released.

Forget BigPond, it's $34 from ozgameshop.com, or 49.95 USD on Steam.

I'm about two missions in, and I'm surprisingly enjoying it considering the game just screams out 'console port'. The fact that you have two "Press any key" intro screns (seriously wtf), you cannot access the options in-game, the laggy mouse feel and the glaringly obvious visual cutbacks (popping textures, jaggies).

What makes up these shortfalls is the slick cinematic presentation, weapon customisation, and mix between stealth/action elements. The satisfaction you feel when multiple sync shots come together is great.

If Ubisoft fixed the issues I mentioned above, I'd give this game a solid 9/10. For now it's a 8/10 tops.
