Started a new character in Dark Souls, decided I wanted a more focussed build and am going for a Magic User (completely at odds to my normal melee dunderhead RPG staple).
I can't get over how easy the Undead Asylum was! The Asylum Boss was a wuss, one drop hit, a few fireballs and he didn't do a shred of damage.
Ripped up the Undead Berg and was able to make it all the way to the Charging Rhino without dying before an unlucky roll got me in trouble. This was an area I spent hours upon hours on with my first character, bemoaning how difficult this game was.
Also can't believe how the boss fights go when you summon in helpers... I didn't even get to hit the Taurus Demon and that one dude also killed Havel for me as well as the two boss-knights in the berg which gave up a BK sword and Havel's ring! Now the issue is I want to level for the BK sword (as that's what I really wanted on my last pyro playthrough) but I'm going to hold off, check the weapon tables for the right sword and the moment continue to wield my Longsword +5.
One hiccup with the summons though, I went for the Gargoyles with TWO player summons active, both of them died, I managed to dual-handle both of them until they got me in a corner and breathed fire in unison. Can't believe those guys died, and all my humanity is up on that roof so I'm going to have to singlehand that battle without the Drake Sword!
How does summoning work? I keep reading you have to be within 10 levels but these guys (the first one in particular) had uber-weapons... and I hear you get great souls for helping players to kill bosses so I was thinking of helping people fight Gaping Dragon and Quelaag as I found those fights to be kinda easy (probably even easier now).
It's really quite interesting how easy the combat feels on a second and subsequent runthrough.
