You should read my undeservedly unloved GoN review of Asura then - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=193224&hilit=Asura%27s+wrath

:D

Started a new character in Dark Souls, decided I wanted a more focussed build and am going for a Magic User (completely at odds to my normal melee dunderhead RPG staple).

I can't get over how easy the Undead Asylum was! The Asylum Boss was a wuss, one drop hit, a few fireballs and he didn't do a shred of damage.

Ripped up the Undead Berg and was able to make it all the way to the Charging Rhino without dying before an unlucky roll got me in trouble. This was an area I spent hours upon hours on with my first character, bemoaning how difficult this game was.

Also can't believe how the boss fights go when you summon in helpers... I didn't even get to hit the Taurus Demon and that one dude also killed Havel for me as well as the two boss-knights in the berg which gave up a BK sword and Havel's ring! Now the issue is I want to level for the BK sword (as that's what I really wanted on my last pyro playthrough) but I'm going to hold off, check the weapon tables for the right sword and the moment continue to wield my Longsword +5.

One hiccup with the summons though, I went for the Gargoyles with TWO player summons active, both of them died, I managed to dual-handle both of them until they got me in a corner and breathed fire in unison. Can't believe those guys died, and all my humanity is up on that roof so I'm going to have to singlehand that battle without the Drake Sword!

How does summoning work? I keep reading you have to be within 10 levels but these guys (the first one in particular) had uber-weapons... and I hear you get great souls for helping players to kill bosses so I was thinking of helping people fight Gaping Dragon and Quelaag as I found those fights to be kinda easy (probably even easier now).

It's really quite interesting how easy the combat feels on a second and subsequent runthrough.

Review is dead due to new website. Why did you want me to check it?

summoning has been expanded in the latest patch, it seems to be something like 10% of your level +-10 levels.

its also fairly easy to kit a level 10 with legendary items.

at the end of the day, your items should really be about your choice, the black knight gear is actually really good at +5 - its not game breaking op, but still really good (the moveset also throws off a lot of people in pvp - if you ever get a lback knight halberd, try it out and youll see why)

you will find that with a sorc many parts of the game will be really easy, but you will be obliterated in others (such as fighting sif/4kings)

Checking out Dark Souls on Steam, I can't fit this part into context with the game I'm currently experiencing...

Your Soul

When you begin this adventure, you are soulless. You must emerge from the abyss to reclaim your soul in order to reach the land of the living. Make social connections, win games, find eggs and solve riddles—and increase your soul energy until you get your entire spiritual essence back. The gauge at the bottom of your dashboard numerically measures the amount of soul energy you have earned. Check your gauge each day to keep track of how much soul energy you have. Do your best to get your numbers high enough so you can say once and for all: Be gone, evil forces, my soul is mine and I am alive!

Ive been meaning to do it for a while, but actually playing it has been seeping my time :D If you haven't checked it out already, I highly recommend it as im finding it to be an awesome action RPG even though its still in beta. I also have one beta key left which ill give to someone on GON (if you ask nicely ;) ) PM me btw.

Must have been mistaken but I could have sworn i'm using a console and not a computer with my PS3. Do loads times really suck on bluray that much that practically every game needs to be installed, not to mention these friggin updates. Hnng.

Yeah that frustrates me with my PS3 as well.

Went back to my very very first Dark Souls save. A faith user (what was I thinking!) that was stuck in the Undead Asylum. Faith users are hard, slow mace melee speed, no offensive spells and a heal spell that can only be cast out of combat (although that is obviously very useful). Was going great, killed the Asylum Demon again on first go, ripping through the Berg then got invaded. Some dude naked but for a shield and a lightning club. It's such a shame that online combat feels so bad, there's no feedback on hits and the lag disparity really takes the fun out of it... the few invasions I've beaten back felt like luck, as did dying at this guy's hands this morning.

Anyway, still thrashing away at Ghost Recon Future Soldier on PC, was quite surprised to get an active MP game last night but.. well... wait for the review.

Up to Part 3 of Asura's Wrath. Part 3 so far is the weakest, Yasha just isn't as interesting as Asura. They also kind of gave us the two best fights (so far) with the demo. *cough* >_> Still good though. :)

Hidden: show
I was sad when the girl died. :( Asura's interaction with her was possibly my favorite thing about the story.

Mellie, far be it from me to ever say you're wrong, but holy ****, you are wrong. Put on some heavy armour, grab a big **** greatsword and BAM, you've got yourself a Paladin. Let's make that Greatsword Divine. BAM, the catacombs are now laughable. You can certainly use the heal spell in combat; ****, I use it in when I'm invaded all the time, and as for offensive spells? We have the coolest spells in the game, goddamn spears of LIGHT, just like Solaire throws. And you know Solaire is a total bro. So use faith. Be a sunbro. Be a faithbro.

(and yeah, lag really **** you over when the game decides that your opponent is stabbing you in the back although he is clearly in front of you on your screen)

Ah, did not consider a Pally!

How on earth do you use that heal spell in combat? The animation for it is 5 seconds long!

Really unsure so far, I know that the character I want to continue with needs to beat the Gargoyles and without the Drake Sword that's proving tough (also have no humanity left for summons), hence why I'm diddling around with older characters. Don't think I'll pick up my pyro again that's past Quelaag, the character just doesn't feel right.

just putting it out there, the only thing that makes my lightning bolt throwing paladin more awesome, is the ability to summon blades out of the ground in a massive aoe (evil faith spell)

faith users can also do haduken!....and wraith of god, one of the most op spells in game.
