Capped oh noes! D: Gotta wait a few hours to get uncapped, so painful. :P

Started the PS3 today finally but only played 2 games atm. Of the machine itself imho the XBox360 is a better machine in almost every way. The dashboard I feel is better (the PS3's is messy imo filled with too many options with too little of a description to explain most of them). The 360 was also far easier to setup. The 360 itself also just feels like a more solid product. Also there's the issue with the PS3 outputting to 720p for some reason causing issues with my screen (using my brothers now). On the plus side inbuilt wireless is absolutely godlike.

For games here's my thoughts.

God of War 3 is more of the same but upgraded, which is of course good. :D Combat is great as usual and at least the intro was pretty epic in scale, I especially like how they've expanded the wall climbing combat mechanics. Unfortunately animation lock still happens prominently which is just as frustrating as ever. Story wise I already knew bits and pieces of it and so far it's as lame as I feared. Basically I hate how the Titans betray you calling you a 'pawn' as that clearly wasn't the case in GoW2 and there's also Athena being all weird and out of character.

With Resistance I gotta be honest, i'm surprised that they managed to get a series out of that game with what i've played so far. Maybe it was because the PS3 had nothing better at the time. *shrugs* It just screams that it was made by a developer who not only had never made a shooter before but one full of people who didn't even play shooters anyway and tried to copy the formulas of very old shooters while designing Resistance.
*Insert negative stuff here.*

Check out Resistance 3, i really didn't enjoy the first two but R3 is a fantastic shooter.

I had similar feelings to you but in reverse, I hated the bright marketing bent of the Xbox dashboard and the heaviness of the controllers, now I think both elements are fantastic.

That was a good session of gaming :D Looking forward to more next time. Takes a while to adjust to all the different abilities etc but once you do it all becomes second nature.

Just tried Killzone 2 and omg is it better than Resistance. Except for the noticeable input lag the game has a 'good' kind of clunky feeling to it that helps define the game and the pace of combat. Kinda wish there was some aim assist though, aiming with controller is so hard. >_<

Gotta ask though, what is it with PS3 shooters so far having left trigger as crouch and right trigger NOT as shoot? 0_o Crouch ok, kinda nice to easily be able to perform the action and Killzone 2 really requires it to be there but wtf is with shoot not being on right trigger? :/ Also the trade-off with left trigger being crouch is that aiming is now a bit of a chore to perform given it's just as important.

Also I have to +1 Resistance for actually allowing you to map your controls properly, so sick of devs thinking they know what's best and only giving you a set of equally bad (usually) control setups.

I played KZ2-3 and Resistance 1-3 and agreed, KZ is much better.

And hell, KZ3 + Sharpshooter attachment = a SHITLOAD more fun.

I would if it wasn't like seventy bucks on steam.

EDIT: It's only 38 on Greenmangaming, really need to get my payment issues with that site sorted >_<.

Huh...interesting. I always felt that Uncharted 2 would have had to have been an epic step up from the original to justify the immense hype out of it, so far it seems to be doing just that. Not far at all into it so far but it does look like a very heavy cinematic experience.

Also played the Journey demo...interesting lol. Not much to say really other than I would very much like to continue beyond the demo.

It's totally worth it.

Very interested to see if Dark Souls comes with GFWL on PC.. if it does, day one buy. If it doesn't, will stick to my Xbox copy.

Installed GFRS on my Alienware laptop last night, talk about zero optimisation, it took over 15 minutes to load the main menu and another 20 FREAKING MINUTES to get into the game. Sure, I'd maxed the **** out of everything so I could start experimenting with settings but holy cow. Will chuck it on the main rig tonight.

Asura's Wrath is pretty crazy. :) Not as great as I was hoping it would be. :( But still greatly entertaining and over the top. :)

I feel like the episodes should be longer (an anime episode lasts 20 minutes yet sometimes it feels like an Asura 'episode' lasts for less than 10) and some of the scene changes and 'half way points' break a scene when the music and mood suddenly stop.

Also I feel the game part is lacking for no good reason. They're going for this entire anime season multimedia experiment like thing but there's no reason why this couldn't work just as well if not work more strongly with the game part allowing for more downtime or slight exploration or movement in the environments. They kind of really control the player in an attempt to control the pace of the game because they thought otherwise would hurt the stories flow, something that I disagree with.

The 'next episode' is a nice touch but kinda pointless given it happens so often (short episodes as I mentioned) and because you're jumping to the next episode straight away most of the time.

But again, greatly entertaining and greatly over the top. :D
