I reckon that would be the way to do it though, couple of starter decks maybe an expanion without having to go and spend hundreds of bucks on rare cards.

No worries man. I just had a lol match now Krenko vs Krenko AI & got owned by goblin grenades, uploading it too. Quite embarrassing :P

I have seen on gamesempire a few starter decks with I think it was 60ish cards for 15 bucks or so. I remember seeing a cool green spider deck a while ago.

I just finished an incredibly frustrating encounter with an AI that used no offensive cards what so ever, only defensive cards. He kept casing some kind of fog with 0/2 but that blocked all damage dealt and was indestructable (so my creatures were useless) and another card that allowed us to draw +2 cards each turn.

The only thing I could do to damage him was play those +4 damage to X player or creature cards, but he also kept using instants to drop them immediately as I used them

In the end I had too many cards and kept having to toss some, took me three or four goes but I finally got him.

If you guys are looking to start playing IRL, unless you want to dump a lot of money into the game you should probably take a look at sealed deck events. I think they cost about $20 to enter and they give you a few packs that you get to keep at the end. They also level the playing field because you won't get people rolling you with money decks.

New Magic sets come out so frequently that if you want to stay on top of the game you need to dump an enormous amount of money into it, which sucks because it's such a fun game.

An example of a money deck I used to use in MTG:O. It's not as crazy as some of the ones I came across but this one all up to buy the individual cards to make it cost almost $400. But that was turn 5.

Yeah and I really wouldn't want to spend big bucks, living in a smaller town I'm probably screwed from anything beyond a small group anyway but I doubt there would be anything like sealed deck events here which is a shame but I'll look into it just in case.

Hey lucassot, just watching your video now - do you play with a controller or something?

Online has sealed deck tournaments, but the community is absolutely horrid.

Drjft on these forums runs Magic tournaments around Seymour so hit him up if that's your area. WhenI played (the very first ruleset) we could see the onset of so called 'money decks' so we would limit ourselves to only first edition, kept things very simple (but missed out on cool new rules and abilities as a result).

I just unlocked the full game today, add DarkMellie on gamecentre :)

EDIT: played a black deck just now who didn't hav any creatures, just spammed forced discards on me then stole my flying 8/7 Goliaths from me and used them to kill me. What colour would best counter this guy?

Nah for some reason my recording program (MSI afterburner) sometimes doesn't pickup the mouse cursor, depending on the game. See how the AI decimated me at the end? Lol.

Thanks on the RL info guys. Might be best just to stick with duels & the dlc decks in the meantime. Too many priorities that need cash these days!

Drag your defending card onto e creature you want it to block. Once all blockers are assigned, hit the block icon.

Saying blockers makes me wish someone would bring blood bowl in its boardgame form to the iPad.

Ahh, I might try recording a game and uploading it to my Youtube account. I've used FRAPS a few times but not with great success. It seems my frame rate just dies in the arse every time I run it in RO2/DayZ, but we'll see how it goes with MtG :D

Your video was hilarious though, you started off good.. it just went wrong somewhere haha.

Ahh thats where I was going wrong and I CBF replaying the tutorial - I was hitting the block button without draging my cards.. that is why it never worked :)

Would recommend MSI over fraps especially if you are struggling with fps. With MSI you can adjust quality of the raw file on the fly without having to have uncompressed files. I don't use this feature but it's great for lower end systems, plus overall fps in MSI compared to fraps is a LOT better for me.

Just needs some tweaking to get settings right then it's good to go.

I always used a red/black or black/white decks back in the day. Going to hopefully get a good play in later today....

Come to think of it back in 98/99 I sold my decks for $800.

Oh, and my black lotus. That sold for... $250? Something like that.
