I eventually did. I've learnt my lesson about 3 hours sleep in 3 days.
Tazi, I've not actually read anywhere about the selling of houses (though people did it on the last map) or the auctions. Will look more into the mcMMO wiki where it is soon.

Scruffy, I am not too sure ATM.

Shodan: Yes, it's way too late to restart. it is a TEMPORARY spawn.

My point is that it'd be great to not turn this survival server into creative. The spawn would be nicer if it was built with resources collected properly in game and if objects from the previous map weren't placed so close.

If you are talking about the Shops that are there now then stop complaining and open a store inside. That was built for everyone to use, last time I checked minecraft wasn't a competitive game.

You guys need to learn the difference between complaining and discussion. Seriously, no need for hostile language like 'stop complaining'. It's just a point of view.

Minecraft is a weekend thing for me, I'm glad the map has rolled over. I've brought 2 new regulars to the server. No need for nastiness because someone says something that doesn't correlate with the norm.

As for spawn, it can be moved anytime, anyplace, easy. The map is a day and a half old and people are 'discussing' spawn. We can have someone build it if they wish, my guess is it wont look like that in a week or even be there :?

shodan wrote:It'd be great for there to be at least a 100x100 block area around spawn that's protected where no-one can build.

We do like this idea though, maybe have it so people who are deemed worthy can build masterpieces inside the area.

The cathedral and yacht?

There was a ton of people on and I floated the idea that those two creations of mine (legit, from the old map) might be better off closer to spawn as a showcase idea to try to encourage people to build nice things.

Jesus, no one is ever happy, are they?

I think a small-scale economy is a fun thing. A server I was on for almost a year had an economy setup and, for the most part, it worked well. It gives another goal aside from just building things, plus all that extra **** you get from building farms etc you can sell to buy less common items.

I see it as a potential way to trade with shops without having a "wanted" commodity. Just the only downfall is that we only have to dig a %hitload of cobble or dirt to afford diamonds but I'm prepared to see how it runs.

The signs are a real great addition to the game with the ability to trade without the vendor being present and no being ripped off. The only issue I've found so far with the signs is that they refuse to allow more than 9 cobble on a trade sign (so we've found so far anyway).

While I kinda passively disagree with creative being able to be used for general building in a survival map there are times were it makes sense to use creative mode.
That would be if an Admin or a really trusted user were to use creative for the benefit of every player. For example, making a decent looking spawn point.
Since really, spawn doesn't belong to one player who get's credit for it.

Also, the shops, they are to the benefit of anybody who is short on materials and would like to trade their surplus. The primary idea of the shops isn't for grandeur like most projects, it's to provide a stress free service for sellers and buys.

As for cut and pasting old projects near spawn point. Not only were those projects done 100% legit on the old map, with weeks of work collecting and placing materials... if any project was deemed worthy to be next to spawn it would be intricate ones such as that over any random cobble/wood hut.

Yeah, the main problem is knowing how to set one up properly.

Oh and as for the Cobblestone ... I found out that you can use just the word Cobble or even cStone instead if everything else is correct.

Same with Redstone can = rStone, Nether Brick = nBrick, End Stone = eStone, Ender Pearl ePearl, Jungle Wood = jwood, Pine wood and Birch Wood = Pine and Birch respectively, Iron is IronIngot.

There are a few others but I've forgotten them or haven't worked them out yet... as I couldn't find anywhere on Google that lists them.

If somebody finds the shortcut for Jack O'Lanterns please tell me!

Ok the cStone could be handy will try, Cobble did not work I tried that.

As for setting up the signs, read the golden block in the shops at spawn for a how-to.
