That is honestly the first time i've seen a Nautilus win a game. I hate him personally, he's a tank that can't tank, i'm sure he's a great support but I didn't want a support when I wasted 6300IP on him. Though looking at those scores me thinks there may have been trolls on the other team. :P

Ezelek wrote:Equipment load works in percentages; at 25% or less of your max rate you can do the quickest roll, then 50%. After that, you move like ****. Equipment load also counts hotswappable items; So for example, if you have your Pyromancy out, the weight of the Drake Sword still counts to your overall weight.

What you really want to decide now is what kind of man you are going to be. Are you going to be wearing heavy armour? Light? Sword and shield? Two-hander? a quick sword, like a rapier? Magic based? These will determine where your all important stats go; and let you start building up a new weapon. The Drake Sword is good early game because it's powerful, but like all the Dragon Weapons, it doesn't scale with your stats, so the damage will drop off.

tl;dr i like dark souls

So for equip load I think my max is around 54 and I currently have maybe 50, so I should shed a second weapon or carry a lighter shield? I definitely roll but it needs to be much wider and faster to get by some of the really heavy swingers.

So the Drake Sword is currently my most powerful weapon on 200 (not even sure how to read the various item numbers in my inventory) but I have a few boss hammers (the Asylum dude's hammer and some other random drop) and an assortment of crappy swords and so on. What would you suggest as a good few first-run weapons I should start investing in? Would a boring looking weapon actually become kickarse with the right upgrades? And is it possible to get a BK weapon on first playthrough? I really want the weapon crafting achievements so I don't want to waste my titanite and twinkling titanite and so on on average weapons if they don't become something I can ascend later.

As for what I'd like to be, this is the first RPG I've ever played where creating a new character really excites me. Ideally I'd like to use some of the higher order magic weapons (like soiul spear or great fireballs) but don't know how to get to them. I also like having strong melee as something like my current pyro glove takes forever to get a shot off. Bows suck. I also read you can upgrade your Pyro glove too?

I'm currently in the depths, have just dropped 20000 souls next to the magic user with the rat-pack so I'll get that back tonight. I presume then the next big fight is the Giant Rat.

Also, Capra Demon was a **** :)

Okay, I'm going to carve this up into more manageable chunks so I don't end up writing another wall of text. Yes, you definetely want to get your weight down. At the moment, you're probably doing the slowest roll ever, making dodging feel painful. The easiest way to do this is with Havel's Ring. Havel is located in the tower right before the Taurus demon, at the very bottom. He is a very tough opponent though, and since you're past that point in the game, you won't be able to summon in phantons to assist. What kind of equipment are you wearing? For the start of the game, running the starting gear for the Pyromancer is actually fine; It has good weight, ok defenses, and ok resistances. <-- This **** is going to get important, because poison and bleed will become big **** off factors in the coming dungeons.

Try and run with just a single weapon right now, and a light shield. The crest shields are the best, just make sure it has 100% physical resist, or you'll be taking damage when blocking all the time. You don't really need a bow in your hand unless you're going a crazy dex build, and your pyro flame weighs nothing, so there's no detriment to having it equipped (always have it in your weapon hand, so you can still block when throwing fireballs though)

Don't bother with things like the Asylum Demon Hammer or the Gargoyle's tail; they take a high amount of strength to wield, are clumsy as ****, and generally slow. All weapons have the potential to become great; You just need to find something that suits your playstyle, really, unless you want to get into PvP. And then you get one of the katanas. Last game I ran, I upgraded a standard Longsword into a Divine Weapon then an Occult Weapon; This is because I was a largely faith based character, and that gives extra dam per faith. Magic/Enchanted does the same thing for INT. Take a look at the Stat bonuses along the bottom of a weapon. You generally want to use something that has a B or an A in your primary stat (or god forbid, an S!), as this will cause extra bonus damage as you increase that stat. These stats bonuses normally suffer when changing a weapon type (for example, a weapon with B STR that you make magic will probably drop to C STR), so figure out what will work best for you.

Don't really worry about Twinking Titanite. It's only used for uprading "unique"/named items, and later on, you'll be able to buy titanite directly from Smiths.

As for Black Knight Weapons; absoloutely. It's all luck based. The first Black Knight in the game (down to the right from the Taurus demon's tower) dropped a Black Knight Sword for me on my first encounter with him. Just remember that Black Knights are not like standard enemies; They will not return on bonfire rest, once you kill them, they're gone for good. Don't worry about getting a BK weapon at this point, the stat requirements are probably too high for you to use them well.

As for what I'd like to be, this is the first RPG I've ever played where creating a new character really excites me. Ideally I'd like to use some of the higher order magic weapons (like soiul spear or great fireballs) but don't know how to get to them. Yep, the ability to create different types of men is absoloutely fantastic. My first playthrough was an entirely magic-using spear wielder, and then my playthrough that I have NG+ with is based off Lenneth from Valkyrie Chronicles.

For things like Soul Spear, you need high INT; And this won't be sold until later in the game. If you're not going an INT build, don't worry about magic, it's not worth the investment unless you're going wholehog. For the bigger Pyromancy spells, these will just come up as you progress in the game and find new teachers; There is a Pyromancer caught in a barrel down in the Depths (near the Butchers), if you free him, he will go up to Firelink, and teach you new spells, as well as upgrade your Flame. (for a cost)

I'm currently in the depths, have just dropped 20000 souls next to the magic user with the rat-pack so I'll get that back tonight. I presume then the next big fight is the Giant Rat.

Also, Capra Demon was a **** :)

Oh, big rat. What a hilariously easy man he is. Instead of going down the way you have, when coming down into the Depths, go over to the table that the Butcher was cutting meat at. Behind some of the barrels is a small trap-door. Drop down that. You will be on a ledge above Mr Fat Rat, where you can rain arrows and spells down onto him at your heart's content, without any retaliation. There is also a Bandit Shield up on that ledge which gives insane poison resist, which you'll really want for the next dungeon.

:| Try fighting the Capra demon with your FISTS.

Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer a content license from one Gamertag to another?

I've looked into this before, and no, it is not possible at all.

Killed the Gaping Dragon (got his axe from lopping off his tail), what an easy fight, only took three deaths to figure out his full attack-set.

However, got to the ladder down to Brighttown and I remember reading a bonfire was nearby... instead of intelligently investing my souls in levelling up I took ALL 40,000 SOULS DOWN WITH ME. Then I got freaked out by the big hammer guy and, worrying he might be a super-strong dude, I just ran thinking "I'll find a bonfire and be safe" but then came across a gaggle of spindly dudes that gave me poison and then thanks partially to lag, I fell off a cliff. Hurried back to Blightown next life, carefully taking down the first guy, then the next two guys... but then I got careless and fell off when rolling.

40,000 souls lost.

I really haven't put much time into farming so I might investigate good areas for this and spend a few hours building up souls.

Thanks for the above post, I'll have more questions later!

if you dont have the crystal greatshield - get it, one of the best shields in the game.

40k souls is nothing, dont worry about it!

have you had any pvp invasions yet?

Yes! Just the one though. He had a long thin sword (probably a katana from what I've read and he was black/red and ghostly in appearance, spawned in right in front if me. I had the Elite Knight armour on and my Drake Sword... I spanked him! Wasn't quite sure he knew what he was doing, I even had time to pound two estus flasks.

Felt good and really should have come with an achievement.

Will get stuck back into Blightown tonight, as long as I can find that Bonfire I'll be happy.

What shortcut?

Made my way down to the ground and it turns out that Blightown is really easy, every enemy you can use three quick hits on without ever having to block their attack. I've checked out the Boss, she looks very difficult so am currently farming large titanite chunks (with the occasional green chunk) from the massive leech things.

I know there's a few items still to obtain in this area (including something to do with pyromancy) but I have no idea where they are... The only area I haven't fully explored is the one with the four poison dart throwers (who I think don't respawn once killed).

Will read up on some Quelaag strats and head in eventualy. Looking forward to getting back to Firelink Shrine to meet the pyro dude I freed from the Depths. Kinda missing the home area after so long in this twisted domain.

My wife told me last night she hates watching me play Dark Souls, the visual aesthetic makes her queasy and uneasy (although she did point out that "the graphics are quite ****").
