''Scrolls'' Closed Alpha Releasing Soon

Unread postby News Portal » 27 Jun 12, 12:32 pm

Mojang's upcoming collectible card game, uh, game, Scrolls, is fast approaching its closed alpha. They're taking the same approach they did with Minecraft and beginning testing releases well before the game is ready, so it will be a fairly bare-bones release, that will include multiplayer, single player vs AI and the deck-builder, in which you can fashion your decks from the 100+ scrolls that are all ready to go in-game. Keep an eye on their blog for further details on how to try out the alpha version, and check it out for more details and forums as well.

yay paying for betas seems to be where the world is headed for this desperate early access. When this happens you really gotta ask. What is the real release date?

Is it fair not to judge these games on these alpha releases, other games that get released don't get re-reviewed when their final patches go live.

So is this like magic: The Gathering if we 'build decks'?

I don't understand the train of thought from Minecraft -> Game built upon exact same concepts introduced before but now bright and encouraging its main feature, to scrolls -> M:TG/YuGiOh. I'd rather release a second minecraft of all things, preferably with a futuristic focus, as I already get my minecraft fix out of dwarf fortress.
