GON Deploys First 64-Player BF3 Server on iiNet Hardware

Unread postby News Portal » 25 Jun 12, 4:48 pm

As part of our upcoming merger, games.on.net and 3FL are moving all our spare hardware into the same room, dimming the lights, putting on some romantic music, and locking the door until they're finished doing... whatever it is servers do. One of the first results of our new breeding program is our new 64-player BF3 server, running on silky-smooth iiNet hardware. Jump in, and as always, let us know if you have any feedback.

No need to run, it's what the game was made for!

Also:
Code: Select all
tracert 203.14.173.5
Tracing route to ics-mas-games5.iinet.net.au [203.14.173.5]
tracert bf3-17.games.on.net
Tracing route to bf3-17.games.on.net [203.14.173.5]

Both go to Mascot and * * * out...? Doesn't sound like Adelaide.

Will try and remember to try this server next time I play. Most of the time it's just whatever server is populated and looks like fun though. So many BF3 servers to choose from!

GON has servers outside of Adelaide. ;)

I believe SaNE made that post in reference to the server page initially stating the server was hosted in Adelaide, that has since been rectified.

Yeah 64 player Metro would be fun and pointless but still fun to watch/play.

The new CQ maps could be very fun with 64 players, I would love to see all the ragers in those maps.

Seconded.

The new maps are for CoD players.. I don't know why they put them in my Battlefields. Tried them twice, stupid both times. Plus the servers can't seem to handle the amount of stuff that happens. (Constant p90's firing + destructible everywhere..)

Infantry is what the game works best at (even then, suppression is still beyond stupid), since they've unbalanced the vehicles with every patch to the point at which they are now paper.

64 players on those CQ maps is terrible though, 32 at the absolute max but I found 24 is a much more fitting number.
