Inferno's recent update to EVE Online's reward system had the accidental side effect of making it profitable for players to destroy their own ships and claim loyalty points for the kill. CCP soon fixed the bug, but enterprising GoonWaffe pilots manipulated the stock market until certain resources were at an all-time high, and then began picking them off. Kills on freighters carrying this cargo netted them billions of loyalty points, which were then cashed out on the market for a total of five trillion ISK - enough ISK to buy around 10,000 30-day in-game time codes.
