That's what i'd be getting 120Hz for, the higher framerate first, 3D second and only if I feel like messing around with it for lols.

Mine says the same. Still has estimated time of 1/6. I hope you are right though :P

Yeah I'm not planning on getting a 120Hz one for the 3D. I was kind of thinking maybe I'll get a IPS for my uni work, web browsing and reading etc, and get a 120Hz for gaming, especially if I was thinking of getting 2 screens anyway.

IT ARRIVED!
Barely gonna have a chance to use it before having to leave for work, but damn, it's nice to have a mega screen again :)

Just to revive this thread, I just want to say how damn surprised I am at how well my midrange GTX 560 Ti is running games at this resolution.

So far I've played Mass Effect 3, Team Fortress 2, Battlefield 3, Diablo, and none have been terrible.
ME3 runs perfectly at full as does TF2. BF3 I run on just with all AA turned off and it seems to stay around 60fps. (I haven't got FRAPS running or anything, but I can usually notice when there's a big drop in frame rate).

I'm seriously wondering whether I even need to upgrade :\

You don't even need AA at these resolutions :P

My 5870 runs most games pretty well too. Maybe another in crossfire to get super smoothness :)

Sorry to revive the thread *again* but I'm after some advice.

As I mentioned, my single GTX 560 Ti is running most things reasonably on this resolution. I still would like to upgrade however.
The question is, would a second 560 Ti be a recommended way to get better frames, or should I just abandon my old card in favour of a GTX 670.

Reading into SLI, it seems that I'm limited by the RAM on only one of the cards, so I'd only have 1GB of VRAM across the setup, and I have a feeling that might limit me using high resolution textures and the like.

I'm also conscious of noise. My 560 Ti is not noisy by any stretch, but I feel like 2 would almost certainly be irritatingly so. With 2 cards in SLI, does it spread the load over both, making both cards cooler and quieter than one card trying to do the same thing, or will they both still run loud and hot?

Lastly on power consumption, I've read reviews and such and it would appear that a single 670 would use less power than 2 560 Tis, but is this noticable in real world terms? Am I going to actually notice a difference in power bill if I'm using either setup regularly?

I'm considering another 2 to get a nice Flight Sim setup :)

I think you would be better off just getting the one faster card personally, considering the other issues you might run into with SLI, not to mention the advances in the actual hardware aside from just 'speed'.

Personally I'm running a HP i7 Elitebook (yep a laptop) with an Nvidia Quadro 3800FX (about equivalent to a 280GTX) in it connected to my 27" iMac (need it for work) running at 2560x1440 over DisplayPort.

Runs perfectly smooth at high settings with nearly every game. I can't get over the difference the resolution makes with some games, especially in character models. I need to attach some sort of makeshift mousepad holder onto my office chair though, having the mouse on the desk makes me too close to the screen, especially for something like Diablo 3
