So it was actual cheaters? Not hackers?

Makes sense then. Hackers is not interchangeable with cheaters. At least in how everyone was using the word.

In any case cheating and a bricked MP makes sense.

I experienced a massive haxxx0r today when the stats window got taken over saying "blah blah blah now owns DayZ. Zombies do not belong in Arma" and the screen started flashing. Needless to say I got the hell out of there.

Most are just 'opportunist cheaters' who simply use what's made available to them (scripts, tools etc.) by the crafty few who more deserve the title of 'hackers'.

The major game-breakers were the 'kill-everyone-in-the-server' scripts, which completely ruins Day-Z for everyone (including other cheaters).

Whilst these recent measures are largely temporary, they will provide a respite for reasonably-normal play to resume, teach a lot of people lessons and also generate resales from those who've had their keys global-banned. :D

Was on ANZ3 earlier and suddenly half the server got BE kicked for script violations.

Then a min or 2 later as people were logging back in an admin in red text said something like 'sorry my bad'.

so presumably people are at the mercy of server admins when it comes to being global banned too.

Given that it seems to have been scripts and PBO hacks I think this whole mess could have easily been avoided in the first place with due diligence from the dayz team by distributing some sort of blacklist for game engine calls [like spawn xxx .etc] that weren't actually needed by the mod.

I've had arma 2 for years and arma 1 before that, but thanks for your elitism.

With his 16 posts he probably knows everything that people who post on GON do and what games they have been playing .etc.
I can see he's been heavily involved with the GON community ever since he joined the forum to make his entry to win some skyrim stuff.

I think arma could be great if it had the fluidity in control and interface as something like BF3.
as it is the control and interface really lets it down.

This was my only gripe. I love realistic shooters but Arma felt clunky to me. Especially the movement.

but how do you make the controls more fluid or smooth when there are so many option?

so you walk up to a GPK
what do you want to do

1 open the boot and put in or take out gear
2 get in the drivers seat
3 get in a passengers seat
4 get in the gunners seat

(note different games can have more options than that)

how do you make that easier without having all those options?
arma 2 has a fairly good icon based system for the most past if you walk upto the drivers side the steering wheel apears and its just a matter of clicking mouse button to get in. but that doesnt work all the time like opening the boot.

they are making its smoother and abit easier, but really ppl are spoilt by arcade shooters where chaging from rifle to jalvin to rifle takes 0.67 seconds

hmm anyhoo off topic...

BallO for me it's not the way you do things in the interface, it's the way the interface puts them together, it's like there's a breakdown between clicking "open door" and the animation that does it, you end up with:

click pick up object

wait a second

lean towards object

wait a second

crouched over object

wait 2 seconds

It can get really frustrating when you try to perform multiple actions, I honestly think the way they handle animations etc is just badly coded (and has been since OFP), it all needs to be smoothed out.

yeah fair enuf, but it comes back to time

least thats the way i justify it, if you pick some thing up it takes time to bend down, grab it and put it in yah pocket / pack then stand back up again

not like other games where you magicly run over it and its done

anyhoo thats just how i think of it.

i think it'll be a bit better in a3 but dont get yah hopes up, they been using the same engine for 10 years or so, if they havnt got it pefect yet they never will :)
