There is what it calls DOOM mode, which is where you can "get out" of the car with the camera and walk around, F8 I think, and there is a couple of different onboard cams, but otherwise it is very limited yes
LFS on the other hand and endless possibilities with cameras and view

Depends on the cars you drive in LFS. None of the Demo cars really get wild or visibly on edge, but certainly some of the S2 cars do, such as the Formula V8 (FO8). I'll see if I can piece together a few moments of video of LFS more "on the edge" this week, with S2 cars

I first tried LFS in 2005, then got S2 in 2007. It really is rather dead online now most of the time but still 1000x more active the NKP online lol. Its late to the party, but S3 is still in the works and one day (god knows when) it will get here. I prefer real tracks too, but the tracks in LFS really have a certain charm to them, and there is a good amount of variety. Its autocross editor is fantastic for creating all sorts of other events too.

As someone who has a long history with it, I'd say yes. But it depends on what you want from it. Online is rather dead, but it is so easy to host and setup your own races when you want. Plus LFSWorld officially tracks all your online stats, and allows you to upload laps to the world record charts etc, gives you something to pursue. You can add a limited amount of AI per connection, but kinda hard to explain, and LFS's AI cars aren't a very good selling point as they are not very intelligent. Maybe I should do an "Intro to LFS" thread, with a guide on how to make the most of it lol, I could write a damn book on the game
To answer simply if "it's worth it"..If you get plenty of fun out of your copy of NKP and consider that to have been a worth while purchase, then yes I think you will find S2 LFS is well worth having too. To me they are the two "must haves" and are the only sims on my PC at the moment (despite owning most of the rest)
