Who plays sport?

Unread postby Disco LT » 14 Jun 12, 8:06 am

I know most of us play video game, but does anyone here play sport or compete in sport regularly, or have you wanted to? Just curious really.

I used to compete in target shooting, pistol and rifle but have let that slide over the last few years and played soccer when I was a kid, but thats about it. Used to try out for sports in high school, but was always rejected over the faster/fitter kids.

Used to play soccer as a kid, played footy for a few years in high school. We were pretty active kids so we had a go at roller hockey and union in the off season before settling for futsal. After not playing any sport for four years apart from golf I decided to get my **** together and get fit so I started muay thai. It's by far the hardest sport I've ever tried to learn.

Target shooting sounds awesome to someone like me having never shot a gun before.

I used to play soccer and basketball throughout primary and high school for the interschool sports comps. then year 12 got me into ice hockey/street hockey.. which i much preferred. (Cairns had an ice rink at the time.) (I make an excellent violent goalie for both soccer and ice/street hockey  )

then, didnt play anything for a few years.. got back into indoor soccer a couple of years ago then friends stopped playing, so i stopped playing too.
would really love to get back into ice hockey though.

Competitively, i play soccer (football), futsal and both indoor and outdoor volleyball (when i get the chance). But it's predominantly football and futsal. Informally, im captaining my uni's table tennis team for Australian Uni Games, but I have no aspirations of winning ;)

Disco this is futsal

So it's like dancing but instead of a human partner it's a ball? Awesome! :P

I play Oztag every week with friends for the lols. We never really win but we have fun and it gives us time to hang out.

I've played/participated in:
-Soccer, 13 years
-Cricket, 7 years
-Squash, 6 years
-Indoor Soccer, 3 years
-Karate (shotokan), 3 years
-Rugby, 2 years
-Basketball, 2 years
-Krav Maga, 6 months

Haven't played anything since leaving high school, would explain my... portly figure currently.

Been looking into Ice Hockey (theres a semi-local league) but a guy I went to school with who played told me its f**king expensive.

Played soccer since I was about 6 all the way up till I was 16, stopped because I tore a minor ligament in knee.

Got into Tennis, have been playing Tennis for past 3 years now.

Play indoor cricket and indoor soccer (futsal) most weeks.

Currently play aussie rules and indoor soccer, up until recently I was playing a tonne of social and high-level volleyball.

Back in school I used to play regular soccer and do athletics, and obviously every sport under the sun in P.E. :P

To be honest I still prefer physical sport to video games by a long margin.

I played cricket until I was 18 (cbf'd training tues/thurs and playing one or both days of the weekend). Was a reasonable player. I decided to play a season when I was 30 - terribad decision (and woeful performances)

I also mucked around with football, bball, tennis and soccer when I was in high school.
