I love the Thief series, my favourite in gaming.
Of a little concern is them saying "different options in how to play"
Just say no to GTA: Garrett, don't want to see it, nor do I want to see Splinter Cell: Hammerite.
Deus Ex already had a ghosting option so it is a given that it will be in Thief 4 which is fantastic as myself and many other players - shouts out to TTLG, loved the whole ghosting experience in T1 and T2 and yes even T3.
The core of Thief though is, imo, in the gameplay elements: Stealth, Shadow and Sound.
The weapons could be rather iconic as well - especially the Blackjack, that muts make a comeback. Going toe to toe to someone in the original Thief was dangerous, nearly so in T2 and wasn't too hard in T3 - hopefully this aspect is pushed more towards the T1 approach - Garrett is a Thief not a Thug. Of course T1 had it's fair share of combat and T2 toned it down to be more like a Thief then T3 could kick it up to near Rambo sections

Of course is it even going to feature Garrett? A new protagonist could be more of an assassin (is it the child Garrett notices in T3?)
I enjoyed DX:HR it was a good effort and certainly held the DX flavour, I think these guys are probably the guys to do it (given that LGS went bust a long time ago), it's a shame Emil Pags is now at Bethesda as he did some great work on T2 and had great ideas for T2 Gold (that never eventuated) - you can also thank him for the good Thief quests in Oblivion

Thief is one of those games I instantly crank to maximum difficulty as I love th experience. I remember loading up T1 all those years ago and playing the first mission on the normal setting, went straight back set it to the hardest I could and did the whole game that way). Thief is a game to savour.
So looking forward to this game.
